I'm sure a lot is going to be made of the fact that, on a night when Celtic play Elfsborg at Celtic Park, Gary Hooper is turning out at the Abbey Stadium in a friendly with a Conference Premier club. Good on the lad IMO; shows his determination and belief in what's right for him.
Fate will have it we'll have united away the same weekend as celtic go somewhere less glamorous though, it's always swings and roundabouts. Also no bunn yesterday or today, hope he's ok.
Probably just CH giving Nash some game time. Don't expect him to get much once the season starts, though you'd hope the same applies for Bunn. Nothing against him, it'd just be nice if Ruddy managed a full season this year!
Only 5 first team players playing tonight: Norwich City: Nash, McNeil, Toffolo, Fox, Ayala, Gafaiti, Hoolahan, Butterfield, Hooper, Jacob Murphy, Josh Murphy
Sorry, but now you've said that Tony, I've got this image of dave in a 3 wheeler van driving around Weston saying, "Luvverly Jubbly" and rubbing his hands.
My impression from the twitter updates is that Cambridge scored a wonder goal and their keeper had a blinder! Would be nice to see some goals on our end but it's another good run about and a chance for a lot of the younger players to have a go.
Anyone on here go to the game? It would be good to have a report on how the senior players performed, in particular the ones over whom there are clearly question marks regarding their future -- Ayala, Fox, Butterfield. Speaking for myself, if Fox, Butterfield and Hoolahan between them couldn't fashion at least a couple of decent chances for Hooper, I'm pretty unimpressed.
I was there Robbie. Fringe players looked why they are that... Fox does not look the player he was, ayala played ok and and butterfield played pretty well. Hoolahan was alright, didn't look sharpish but the whole look and the game we played stunk of pre season. As for Hooper, didn't get any decent service, but when he did get the ball some of the touches and movement showed why weve spent that money on him. Always looking for the ball and trying to tempt the midfield to knock it in behind by constantly offering the run. That's where the fox of old would have found him, now it's a plain old pass left or right and that's it.
would be nice to see dickie dosh get cambridge united back into the football league. been in the conference far too long
Thanks ICHB. I would think the youngsters would be wanting to impress, and I would expect the old hands to show a bit of leadership and "this is how to do it" setting of an example. I couldn't gauge from the reports whether it was at all like that, or rather a damp perfomance. I know it's pre-season, but one looks for sparkle and verve even if fitness levels are below par and players are feeling their way back. Added to which, I would have thought there would be a particular desire to get Hooper on the score sheet.
Apologies if it's been mentioned already but there appears to be a link to a live stream of the Braga v NCFC friendly mañana. Two thirds of the way down third page http://www.wiziwig.tv/competition.p...5,6&competitionid=&archive=no&sel_comp=no&p=3
You could, except that they would call on RvW and Leroy Fer to confirm that nothing faintly resembling Dutch had been sung by Canary supporters that night! (Or put another way, I wonder if RvW and Leroy recognised what it was the fans were singing) .
