I agree. Bale had a great season last time out, but it was his best season by a mile & there's no guarantee he'll repeat it. Bale is great with grass in front of him, running at the opposition (if you watch him closely he generally knocks the ball & sprints after it, rather than holding the ball under close control like Messi & Ronaldo), but I've seen him marked out of games & totally fail to impose himself. If I was Levy & £85m hit the table I'd snatch their hands off.
he's essentially had 1 season on that form, thats it, 1 season, a brilliant season but only 1. Madrid would I imagine offer about 55-65m, where has this 85m fee come from anyways?
100% agree, when we played Spurs at Anfield, the midfield pushed him out wide and blocked his ability to drive through the centre and nullified that part of his game totally, he did whip one in from wide for an assist though.
ronaldo was clearly going to be something special from day one though, even through the early years at United where he did 20 step overs and then nothing you could see he had exceptional talent. He had two excellent seasons prior to joining Madrid
I watched Phil Nevillinho do a right job on him at the Lane season before last, he never got a kick. We then repeated the feat at Goodison, old 'Arry kept moving him around, from right to left, then down the centre & he still did **** all for 90 mins. Don't get me wrong I rate the lad, but putting him in the Ronaldo / Messi class, is the talk of a smackhead.
on bale. christiano ronaldo is hated by LFC.... that is just rivalry but he was a world record fee not because he knocked a few in one year for utd... he was a multiple title winner, top international, cl winner and all together best player in the league. Bale on the other hand is a converted left full who's showing ever increasing levels but so far has achieved nothing of note..... 80mil for ronaldo.... Real madrid said the day they bought him they had a 5 year plan for hi to pay this back in image etc..... can anyone tell me how bale, at best a regional star will justify 95million or whatever the press have made up now? I would absoltuely sell him for that. he would be great but the moeny can make spurs into a top 4 side.
There's no doubt that Bale had one hell of a season last season. But there's little in his record to suggest that he will repeat it this season. Certainly not enough to justify the level of offer that is being suggested. Even allowing for just a bit of bias, Bale is not worth that kind of money but if Madrid want tp pay that much then even Daniel Levy will have to think long and hard before trying to play hardball. In relation to this thread however, it does mean that our valuation of Suarez's price is closer to the mark than Arsenal's.
If Spurs can take 85M from Madrid that would be an incredible deal. They have the Cash to buy Soldado in place, so that 85M could bring in another 3 or 4 class players. If they can do that they would be challenging for the league next year
That pre-supposes that the Bale money would be made available for transfers. Remember, the Spuds desperately need a new stadium .
in fairness to bale though guys his trajectory of improvement has been consistent over the past what 3 years? i think he'll repeat the form, its not like he got 35 goals or something. you put anyone with a shot like that on him where he can just pop off at goal all day he's going to get a few. 85mil though...... thats 40mil ove rvalue and you could *coughs* buy suarez off us.
This, plus his best performances prior to last season were in the CL. I don't think he is worth over £60m but he is a quality player who will repeat or improve last seasons efforts
i dno't think he's worth over 40mil.... this is all donw to a few more billionaires playing. psg have inflated the fees again 55mil for cavani means everyone is worth 55mil it seems.
2012-13: Played 33, scored 21, assisted 4 2011-12: Played 36, scored 9, assisted 10 2010-11: Played 30, scored 7, assisted 1 2009-10: Played 23, scored 3, assisted 5 2008-09: Played 16, scored 0, assisted 0 No MITO, last season was his only excellent season, not consistent, nothing, nothing, nothing, something, Boom!
Isn't it common for a young player to develop at a rate such as this? Do those stats not show a improvement each season? Considering last year was his best by far and he is yet to have a drop, what will next season bring? Bale is a very good player, he is not in the same bracket as Messi and Ronaldo but nor are any other player. IMO, the next bracket is the one he fits into as does Suarez.
So in short you agree with someone else, big surprise The key word was consistency, his improvement has not been consistent, last season was more astronomically better than any season previous to it, I am saying it has not been consistent at all. Season before last there were some good games but last season was a massive improvement on anything previous to it
