Well I thought it was a entertaining race, shame such a simple thing as a sport can so annoy some people. Maybe I'm bias as after 3 attempt I've finally got to see someone I support win a race live
PS. I've always suspected Silver was Manny. Silver used to be a huge Schumacher glory hunt.... I mean fan boy. Can you check that out for me mods?
I'd say don't go looking but that will only encourage your curiosity Glad to see things have calmed down somewhat just in time for... the summer break. Sigh. EDIT: Also, seriously, I'm not quite sure how people can still claim that Mercedes' improvements can only have come from the secret test and simultaneously assume the 3-day test the other teams did has had no impact on their ability to handle the tyres...
I always thought Silver and Manny were 2 different people, i just reckon Silver hacked Manny's account whilst Manny is away. The pro-Vettel references made me suspicious, Manny didn't strike me as a Vettel fan, whereas troll Manny today seemed a big fan of SV. P.S. It's late and i'm drunk, so my detectiving skills aren't great, so i'm probably miles off. WOuld be funny if Sarge was Manny
Mercedes had over four years of not being able to work the tyres then one secret test later they make a huge step forward. They also started tyre swapping after that test. Ultimately we'll never know what happened at that test because they did it covertly, but I'm sure Pirelli were working with them to help their tyre problems, possibly even sharing other teams' data with them. Mercedes would've needed a real incentive to take that risk. The "we learned nothing" line will never wash with me, especially as they've had a dramatic upturn in form since doing that test. Edit: On Mercedes' form: Points before test (five races): Red Bull - 131 Ferrari - 117 Lotus - 111 Mercedes - 72 Points since test (five races): Red Bull - 146 Mercedes - 136 Ferrari - 77 Lotus - 72
In all honesty... I couldn't give a <insert expletive of choice here> who Manny is... so long as they stop being a WUM, and a crap WUM at that... Whoever you are, you aren't even funny. Just vulgar and unlikable.
it's also worth pointing out that when Bernie suggested he could get Hamilton a seat at Mercedes (after Hamilton constantly whined that he wanted a seat at Red Bull) apparently he just rolled his eyes in disgust, yet strangely moved there anyway, and then they get their own private test with Pirelli early in the season. I wonder what could of changed his mind. This is exactly why i don't like Hamilton because he thinks the sport should always just be about him always winning in the best car, and showing he's the best driver, and it's inevitable that he'll get his way eventually. What will be interesting is how many years of Hamilton constantly winning it would take for people to realize it's no more interesting to watch than Vettel dominating. With the added bonus of course of him still playing down the quality of the car to try and make his performance seem all the more impressive.
But there's so many different things that can cause an upturn in form. It seems more to me that they got some good updates. You can't have it both ways and say that Mercedes gained everything from the test and the other teams have gained nothing from theirs, unless you're going to accuse Pirelli of favoritism, which I fail to believe there is any motive for. Also, Mercedes tested 2013 and 2014 tyres - not 2012 tyres.
Well, to those who offered wisdom about not bothering to read the thread; unfortunately I've only just seen your advice! Nothing more to say really. Nothing, that is, other than being saddened to find the person I thought had matured into a proper adult stands under a self-made banner declaring himself adolescent. What a shame. However, I'd prefer to talk about the race: one which I found intriguing, interesting, and so packed full of action that I don't know where to start. It seems there are some pretty strong opinions about various incidents and we have several weeks to talk about them but after a tiring day, I'll probably leave it until tomorrow to get stuck in. Right, time to catch up with 'highlights' to see how it looked on the BBC.
Okay... this isn't rocket science. Mercedes got the most out of it (tyre testing) because they had the most to gain. How they did it wasn't ideal, but other teams had the same opportunity and declined. More fool them. As for it being boring if Hamilton won every race.... Yes, it would be very boring (and I'm a Hamilton fan). But he has one won ONE race this season. Don't get over excited. And if you think the FIA are suddenly Hammy bum chums because he wins ONE race. Go back and check his penalty history. One race win and F1 goes mad....How about some common sense and some objectivity. He's one of the top 4 drivers on the grid with a half decent car... hence he won a race.
