    There is no way I believe we have a larger global fanbase than Liverpool.I know Granada once said we had a global fanbase of 30M.There is also no way that Chelsea have a bigger fan base.What's that saying about statistics and lies ?

    I think you'll find your living in the past my friend. It's ok, it seems to be a common problem up in your part of the country.
    This I took to be an insult about the North West <grr>

    @astro

    How does him being the second longest serving belittle his achievments as the second most successful? Is Ferguson no good because he was the longest serving? The only reason they alst so long is because they do so well - other clubs could have had managers that long, they just didn't find good enough ones to last that long! What ridiculous logic...

    And as i say - i will hand it to you that you have won the CL where Wenger hasn't - i was cheering for Liverpool when they won it as well! But Arsenal have performed in the competition on a more consistent basis which cant be denied either.

    @goonercym

    1) We really do - just do a quick google search - Liverpool have around 70mil fans worldwide whilst we have 110mil+ according to a handful of sources dated between 2011 and 2013. Don't think some people realise how much Chelsea and Arsenal have grown as clubs, fanbase wise, around the world over the last 10 years. Particularly in Asia but also in Africa for Arsenal. Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Barca and Real are the 5 most supported clubs worldwide.

    2) That was a little joke aimed at the whole Liverpool live in the past idea - might just not have been very funny!

    The wording is irrelavent, to put a price on the ability of a club to talk to a player about a transfer is a tacit acceptance that that is his value.

    No the clause says they have to let the player know there has been interest and someone has offered over £40M it is NOT like Spain where making a bid over the release clause means the team has to sell. Liverpool are within their rights to refuse to sell any player they do not wish to sell or do not wish to sell at any particular price. So any tribunal in the land would have to side with Liverpool on this one please read up on the laws on employment before making sweeping incorrect statements like that.

    Just think for a moment about your own contract of employment (assuming that you are not self-employed). I have no way of knowing the exact terms of that contract unless either you or your employer tell me.

    Now Arsenal are barred from talking directly to either Suarez or his agent without written permission from Liverpool. Neither of them would be allowed to divulge specifics of that contract such as this clause. Therefore Arsenal have been more than just a little silly by offering £40,000,001.

    Now as YOU are so confident in your opinion then you will be able to give chapter and verse on the rules that would demand that LFC would have to attend any tribunal regarding their contractual arrangements with Suarez. You could then go further and present the wording of that clause so that we could all see what it says. Put simply mate you can't and you're talking out of the top of your head - typical Manc!

    IF Arsenal want Suarez then either offer a far higher sum or go away. As for LFC and Suarez that's for them to sort out.

    Just read about the last 5/6 pages, and finally someone with sense comes along <applause>

    Some of the garbage I've been reading I wouldn't even entertain a reply. And that's from your fans and our fans - so I'm not siding one way or another.

    P.S. Add to that the club can refuse for Suarez to talk to the club, Suarez can only be told of the bid - LFC are the only one's that can negotiate.

    Which was swiftly denied by our owners as someone making rumours up. Probably connected to the Suarez ordeal - some twat trying to unsteady the ship.

    Good morning gooners...

    You are also very consistent at not winning trophies. 8 years and counting. Why be so proud just to qualify?

    :emoticon-0159-music ...16 times, We've won it 16 times, European qualification, we've won it 16 times :emoticon-0159-music

    No, it's an acceptance that it is a serious offer and so the player might want to made aware of it.

    No club wold put a value on a player in a contract because it depends on so many things, e.g. current form, injuries, buying club, strength of rest of squad. When actual release clauses are added to contracts, they are called such.

    If you want to claim we have put a value on Suarez with his contract, then it would be £40m plus the cost of his contract (about £6m/year * 5 years = £30m) so £70m. Offer £70m and we have a deal <ok>
