I still think the club has the right to accept a bid or turn it down even if he has a transfer request accepted, his value in this country is more as he is playing in a team that directly affects us.

I may be wrong?

It should be more for a rival but I'd want £50m from Real <laugh>

And...And this will sound romantic & foolish; but I'd like it to be us that breaks the player power balance.

We are in the perfect position to resist everything and say contracts actually matter. If we are serious about developing young players, then paying them based on performance then we can't have them thinking they can just leave when it doesn't go their way.

We've all said it for years "stick him in reserves " knowing we didn't really mean it or believe it could happen but this is as close to that as a club will get.

As G says, Suarez is unlikely to strike etc but we're in a position to react if he does. Do it right this time and we'll not be beholden to a player again for a good while....

<ok> This needs to happen at some point. Tevez should've been the first at city or Rooney at Utd. If it ends up we keep him and he's still agitating for a move he needs to be treated like someone who works at any other company, solicitor, teacher whatever, either get with the programme or be disciplined. We'll miss the goals but set a precedent and show other clubs/players they ain't gonna **** wit us.

I dunno, if Arsenal just get Suarez for 50m and that's their budget and they leave it there I don't see them doing any better than last season to be honest - they need more than just him with their squad IMO.

If its done within the next week for 50m then I really do trust BR to make us a better and stronger side if he uses all of that money to bring in 3 players (for various positions).

Don't get me wrong it will **** me off but it won't feel as bad as the Torres to Chelsea thing, that really hurt a lot of us!

I am hoping that our club are thinking not a chance to arsenal though - because even though I can see the logic, 70% of our fan base will kick off and I wouldn't argue against them because it would e perfectly valid to vent

True, they need a keeper, CB and CM too IMO

Mighty, I agree with that. I'm one of the regimes if not cheerleaders at least "give them a fair chance" but selling one of your best players (no matter that i dislike him) to the team you are trying to replace just can't be justified by anything other than enough money to overtake them anyway.

So if they sell to Arsenal the buys with the sale money have to result in overtaking Arsenal. It's the only acceptable outcome.

One thing guys we should be mindful of is Suarez' history with leaving clubs.

When he wanted to go to Ajax he forced a move from Groningen by taking the club to court which effectively forced the move.

It could all get very nasty, and yet again we have a huge distraction.

Personally I would be very happy without the negative attention we have had from him over the past two years.

Just at the correct price!!!

Remember - he lost that case. Also this time he and his agent are up against a major football club owned by an international company who have no fear of engaging in litigation and far more resources to fund it.

Yep, all hell will break loose if he goes to Arsenal. Fans are very emotionally invested in this since Suarez has run down the club's name and the supporters' reputation with the Evra and Ivanovic incidents.

Anyone else hope that Arsenal are putting all their eggs in one basket here?

OT: cough downloaded Fast &Furious 6 these films are stupid but I live them.....except Tokyo drift: that's just pointless.

I like the first three including Tokyo Drift, didn't think much to the fourth though. Got the fifth and sixth to watch <ok>
