elliott ward was on our payroll for two months of last season. the only reason he didn't leave beforehand was because a club didn't come in for him throughout the summer. that could (and does) happen with any club, any player, any summer so isn't relevant at all. i can only guess but chris martin was probably put out on loan to run his contract down away from the club (wages covered) and put him in the shop window for a move this summer (which worked although we were never going to get anything for him). i totally get that you want people to realise that if we keep buying we need to address an overload of players aged over 21 but again, you seem to be looking for problems which don't really exist or at best, aren't major issues for the club
Best of luck to Gary. Lenny said he wanted to strangle him when he told him he wanted to move to England All the best.
a bit like john gregory when manchester united snapped up dwight yorke and he said 'had i had a gun i think i'd have shot him'! managers hate losing one of, if not their best player.
Now this saga is well and truly over I'm going to pub after work Grey Goose instead of Russian Standard!
Am no tellin ye All I did was click on your pic, it got bigger so I right clicked and copied image location. Voila.
About Vydra, apparently West Brom have made a bid of £4m for him, think he'll be a bit more than that though... (Source is the daily star though)
So do we think that we are all done for transfers now? After giving it some thought I think we might be more likely to see a couple of loans come in from bigger clubs, it makes sense to take advantage of the loan system if players become available who would cover us until either January or next summer.
I can't believe it! I'm going to need a bit of time for it to sink in. Our forward players are looking damn good.
It may have taken a while, but it's a brilliant signing all the same, and a brilliant summer of signings. Good luck to Celtic this season, Tina.
Back to the question of a midfield link. It might be fun IMO to approach QPR with an enquiry for Esteban Granero. His agent was in touch with Swansea earlier to see if they were interested, but they were not. That suggests he may not be too thrilled about playing in the Championship. Here is a rating comparison with Bradley Johnson: Granero Defensive contribution: Very Strong Passing: Strong: Taking set-pieces: Strong Crossing: Strong Holding on to the ball: Strong Key passes: Strong Player has no significant weaknesses Johnson Aerial Duels: Very Strong Taking set-pieces: Strong Concentration: Strong Ball interception: Strong Passing: Weak Granero is right footed, and generally plays on the right where Johnson plays predominantly on the left. He is very strong defensively, though less powerful than Johnson, but his ball retention and passing, two areas where Johnson is found wanting, are both rated "strong". A pairing of Fer and Granero would, IMO, improve our playing out of defence while still providing excellent cover in front of the back four, and might lead to a more even involvement of those playing left/right midfield (Pilkington/Redmond and Snoddy). Granero is not an "old head", but he is technically good, as one expects of a Spanish player. If not Granero, are there others who might have a similar impact?
i thought granero was going to be their best signing by a considerable distance last summer. he was awful. i refuse to believe he has suddenly become an awful player so lets put it down to the club he was playing for. i agree, he's someone i wouldn't mind here. would be an upgrade on fox
Got to hand it to you Supers, you did say that Hooper would eventually sign for us way back in January
