Whats the worst case scenario here, we dont increase our offer, can Liverpool really keep him now after all thats happened? Would be a massive gamble, he could go down the pan like torres did. Worst for us is we hopfully sign someone like bernard to free up podolski, not sure if there are many more strikers available.

It's hard to understand where they go from here. Considering how things have panned out over the last while you'd think that Liverpool would be happy for the £40m and being relieved of a guy who:

A) Doesn't want to be there
B) Can't play a league game until October

They could buy ten bags of pickled onion Space Raiders with the extra £1 as well <ok>

No chance of letting him go for £40m <laugh> He's banned anyway so he can easily take a month or so to calm down and think is it really worth ruining his world cup year because he wants to keep having a strop about not getting a move. <ok>
 
It is really difficult to see how this is going to work out well for Liverpool. We have been there done that with unhappy players and there is just no point in keeping them around.

So as has been suggested in some circles, the only way this can resolve itself is for Suarez and Arsenal to make up the fee to 50M, in salary, lost loyalty bonuses and future payment clauses that say Arsenal will give Liverpool another 5 million if they do the double 3 years in a row, so no one loses face.

I expect a 50M bid shortly (exact terms not released) and Suarez to become an Arsenal player. Everyone claiming victory.

Not sure how I feel about that, but things will not be dull with him around, that's for sure.

You are a comedian. Arsenal are on a hiding to nothing here. You have no bargaining power whatsoever. You don't offer enough then we reject the offer. Chelsea had to pay cash for Torres so I strongly doubt that John Henry is going to agree terms for Suarez. What happens with Suarez should he stay with us is no concern of yours. So the only way for Arsenal to claim 'victory' is to pay the rate demanded.

By the sounds out of Liverpool that fee would be in excess of £50 million and would not have anything to do with the personal terms you agree with Suarez.
