To be fair to Pool, Suarez leaving them for a PL competitor would be 10 x worse than what RVP did to us. LFC and their fans have stood behind & defended Suarez through some very rough times. RVP wasn't expected to last half a season before getting injured and his age sort of helped ease the pain a bit.

They did support him, but I'm not sure that was what he needed. With the Evra case, I think a little bit of stern advice would have gone further than blind support.

Liverpool seem to get themselves into these messes a lot. Xabi Alonso got very unhappy with the club at one point too. It will be interesting to see how this works itself out, but I'm not terribly bothered, I want to see us reinforce Midfield and Defense mainly. Right now a lot of players have to fail before we have a problem scoring goals.

Why would I need others to do my homework, just google it, liverpool have made a financial loss in the last 2 sets of financial accounts, you can attribute that to whatever you like(in your case one of costs), the fact remains you still made a loss, and if you're going to be self sufficient like FSG want you have to change that.

If you want to comment upon financial statements then you really must make some effort to understand what the figures you are looking at actually mean and why thy are presented in that way. Then you have to look at those figures in context ie in comparison with other clubs. After that you need to be able to define which systems eg ratio analysis will best assist your comparison. If you can't do the above then you have as much chance of understanding a P&L or Balance Sheet as the average man in the street has of explaining Quantum Mechanics.

<laugh> settle down pal, you made a financial loss, big deal, it happens to clubs, you can bull **** about trying to be technical all you want, the simple fact is you spent more money that you make. You might turn it around next year, then again you might not.

I hope you know a little more about football than you do about corporate finance ;)

I think there should be some mutual sympathy between us Gooners and Liverpool fans. Last year we went through something similar and really had our noses rubbed in it by having to applaud RVP for winning the PL at our own ground!! Not to mention the fact that we nurtured him for nearly 8 years, many of them injury-plagued before he finally reached his full potential, unlike Suarez, who was brought in a couple of seasons ago pretty much the finished article.

On the other hand we have been starved of serious squad improvement for so long that most Arsenal fans are absolutely desperate for this deal to happen regardless of the frustration and anger Liverpool fans must be feeling; football is a harsh business and we have had our fair share of humiliation and betrayal in recent times.

Zero sympathy from me. Look at how their fans, management, media and former players are acting. They've been nothing but disrespectful to Arsenal. They can rot for all I care.

Have to say that I sort of agree with this. There are a few reasonable Liverpool fans but you have to search hard for them.

I think we should go back with a bid of 40,000,002 pounds, in a week or so.

You're always going to get a few fans who aim their vitriol at the club trying to buy your best player, so I don't blame a few Pool fans for doing so. I'd probably be tempted to do the same to let of a bit of steam.

What is damaging however for Pool is ex players like John Aldridge and Graeme Souness coming out and slagging Suarez off for not showing loyalty to Pool. With their comments, they are simply propelling him further and further towards the exit door.

Souness' article was garbage. Didnt make a single good point, was basically just Suarez should stay because Liverpool are the best club in the world and have the most bestest fans

Souness shows faith and belief in his club - shock horror! :p

I get the feeling we will either completely pull out without putting in another bid or we will go all out to sign him. Things are very quiet from the club at the moment and i get the feeling we have a couple of signings we intend to pull off. The £40m+1 bid was either to test the clause to see if it was a release clause or it was Arsenal starting the steps towards getting the deal done - talking to suarez and a starting point for negotiations. I think this is more likely considering we have come in with more than one bid already.

Despite no signings yet im confident we will have 2 top signings comming in before the end of the window. I think Arsene wants to be challenging again and i think being able to spend some money on a couple of big names may have been part of his contract negotiations, other top clubs would have him and now the money is available i think we seem to actually want to spend.

Arsenal can afford to pay up to £50m for Suarez if Wenger judges he offers value. Their total transfer warchest is not far short of £100m

Arsenal can also easily afford to pay 150k a week wages. Next yr club revenues = £300m allowing them to build to a £180m per annum wage bill

Assuming a £180m per annum wage bill, Arsenal can comfortably add three more players on 150k a week or four at 100k a week (on top of fees)

My view, from assessing public info & talking privately to others is Arsenal have extremely good chance of getting Suarez & other big names

On Cesc, I tweeted weeks ago Arsenal didn't think he'd leave & recently Arsene himself confirmed that. But maybe Man Utd changed things?

I'd love it if Utd's interest in Fabregas has made him think about leaving Barca to come and rejoin us <ok>

Mr. Arsenal ‏@OsmanZtheGooner
Looks like most media will report that Liverpool have set Arsenal a deadline till next week to offer 50m for Suarez and finish the deal

Would be great if this doesn't drag out like Higuain and we get it sorted ASAP. Best for all parties involved <ok>

If the Premier league determine that the £40m figure is a release clause though, we'd be better to wait and get him for £10m less. Especially now it doens't look like Real are going to bid as they want Bale.
