It's a ploy to gain mass approval in the cold negative wastelands of SWF. Look out for an article soon where DTLW pledges his allegiance to GMI, denounces Gashton and bemoans the scarf waving, shirt wearing happy clappers on Not606. It's all about the clicks! ;)

I think we're allowed to have thought it forever, say it now, but if you want any response, you may need to see out the year.

So I had an operation yesterday and have been signed off work for two weeks... I'm pulling my hair out already.

If my posts start making even less sense than they do usually, it's because I've gone mental!

Thanks Fran! It just means I'm going to be sat here even more desperate for transfer news than I was already. (If that's even possible)

I didn't take in much about the Spanish train that derailed, other than the obvious casualty list and the report that the train was travelling too fast. I haven't really seen many pictures either, but this one most definitely caught my eye:

Ouch. Put a little disclaimer at the bottom of all your posts. Something about pain and drugs :)

Cristiano Ronaldo has apparently donated blood to victims of the train crash. Good on him.

Seems him and Messi are really switching sides in the good guy/bad guy stakes.

I can't help but feel so sceptical when famous footballers/celebrities do good deeds like that. I hope he did it for the right reasons, and I'll withhold from criticising him in case he did do it for the right reasons. I just can't help but feel his prime motive may have been to promote his own image rather than genuinely wanting to help.

Too cynical...probably realised that if he set an example, others would follow.

... but he did it and this will be a help, maybe even a life saving help. Even if he thought. "Bugger me, this will make me look good in the public eye," at least he did. Sometimes it would be nice if the positive view could be seen.

It doesn't matter why, he did it.

Does it matter? Does anyone do anything for purely altruistic reasons? We do things because we want to and it makes us feel good about ourselves. Does the fact that the motive isn't 100% pure mean that the act has no value. Just because Ronaldo is annoying and wears too much hair gel doesn't mean he has no human feelings. He wanted to help and he set a good example.

Nice gesture but it's only a pint of blood. Not much in the grand scheme of things. Now if he'd got his team mates to donate as well that would have been much more useful.

In these cases too many people donate blood. It only has a shelf life of a few weeks and most of it won't be used. Then in a couple of months time you find there's actually a shortage because everyone donated at the same time just after the accident and no one is donating now. Basically he shouldn't have done it.

"It's only a pint of blood" - don't say that to those working in these scenarios. Every blood donation matters.

I'm pretty sure there's an entire episode of Friends based around that question.
