IMO CH likes forward players who understand how to play the other attacking roles. He wants his wide players to come inside and to have the forward players interchange. So the fact that both Snodgrass and Redmond have played centrally behind a striker is a big plus for him. Has Pilkington had any experience of playing centrally? Maybe at Huddersfield, but I don't remember him doing so with us. I rather think he might actually make a decent fist of it. <ok>

I don't think pilks goes missing for games, I just think last season we often lacked the ability to get the ball to him quickly enough and once he got the ball he was then surrounded by players. watching the games back away from carrow road the amount of times pilks when fit was free on the left and the ball always went right was unbelievable, I often encounter the same problem in kids football that the team passes one way and struggle to go to the left.

Not even if it was a milk chocolate one?

    Bah!

p.s. I'm very excited to see the competition unfold between our wingers next season, I think who ever does the most pre-season will start in possession of the LW birth, but I think there will be a lot of interchanging through out.

He's always been touted as someone who can play in the second-striker role, but he's never needed to for us

According to my Huddersfield mate, Pilks didn't really ever play behind the striker for them.

Having watched the match last night, I think Redmond could become a really good player this year (the MotM for City, IMO). Butterfield also looked good in his 20 minute cameo. The 3 minutes of highlights below has their shots (and notice how Redmond hits the bar from the right side when he's actually playing LW):

I think part of the problem is that Snodgrass is so involved for the entire 90 minutes, whether attacking or back-tracking to help cover Cafu.

Who ever plays on the opposite flank (mainly Pilks to date) may appear lazy on occasions, or simply drift in and out of the game, largely because Snoddy has set the bar so high with his own performances <ok>

I see transfermkt list his position as Midfield -- Left midfield, which confirms what you say. I guess it's a case of his being needed on the left rather than not needed in the centre. With Redmond's arrival maybe that option will present itelf. I'd like to see him used a bit more imaginatively myself. <ok>

Snoddy will leave everything he has on the pitch. He's work rate is immense. Normally looks shattered by the end of a game yet will rarely go off.

He has an outstanding work rate and the ability to go with it. With all the new signings, we can't forget how good Snoddy was last season.

I'm sure he will, General. Can't believe we've now got 7 signings in, 6 of which are as good as or better than players from last season (Garrido is just as good as last years LB), and we're not even half way through the Transfer window. Hope to see more of a team for the first day forming over the next few friendlies. Anyone know if Bass and Turner be ready for those?

Just watching the Portland v NCFC game on youtube, awful goal to concede, but impressed with Redmond and Wolfswinkel (The commentators seem to think we spent 13 million on Wolfswinkel lol)

Looking forward to seeing the more likely starting 11 play.
