Just seen on SSN that notts county have offered him a two year deal. Why the hell aren't we in for him? He could easily be the answer to our big man troubles and offers experience to a young squad. Surely we'd be able to offer him more wages and he's a free transfer too
i would take him over adebola and howard any day he aint that bad and it mentions that he is in talks with several championship sides so we could be one of them ! how ever craig davies at chesterfield would be a good freebie
I've not watched Harewood much but it seems every single season he's moving clubs and no-one wants to retain him, (I think we've been tenuously linked with a move him for at least the past three or four summers). This does indicate that he doesn't really cut it in the upper divisions and we are perhaps best avoiding him.
He seems to be a player who is either on fire or complete gash. Seems to depend on which direction the wind is blowing on that day. Too inconsistent I think for us.
He can score goals, one in three in the Championship and the Premier League is not a bad return, he's too good to be in League One(though he's not really a big target man, he's just wide). 2009 Newcastle United (loan) - 15(5) 2010â2011 Blackpool - 16(5) 2011 Barnsley (loan) - 10(4)
In the summer of 2010 a deal was done and dusted, but for some reason it never materialised. One of Duffen's dodgy transfers I think. Instead, we got JVofH on a free transfer
Aston Villa’s Marlon Harewood is interested in signing for Hull City. His agent Phil Sproson told the Hull Daily Mail: "Marlon would certainly jump at the chance to join Hull City.”
We did agree terms with him, then decided not to bother, I thought it was a mistake then and I still think it was now.
But it was clearly a situation which left Harewood's agent Phil Sproson confused and disappointed. "Having taken the call from Phil I really thought the deal was going to happen, but that's football and this is what can happen on deadline day," he said. "I travelled to Villa having spoken to Phil and they were happy for the deal to go ahead and it was all sorted at their end. "I tried calling Phil back during the afternoon several times but we heard nothing more. "It is strange as Hull seemed interested when we spoke early in the afternoon, but Marlon will move on from this and will bounce back. "If Hull had wanted this deal Marlon would be there now, that's 100 per cent."
In terms of ability, Venegoor of Hessle Road is probably better. But if we're talking about goal scoring, Harewood has a far better record in the PL. Saying that, in the 2009/10 season we never had a settled team. If Harewood had scored in 4 games on the bounce, ***an would have replaced him up front in the next game because of his 'superior work rate'
