Remeber this forum is not representitive of all fans.
Try the BBC website and just about every Liverpool fan on there is a disgrace, but I'm not niaive enough to think that every one of the 40k who go to Anfield post on there, it'll be a handfull of idiots trying to get a bite, no different in here in some cases.
Gerrez appears sensible and level headed and therefore able to debate

Nice sentiments from Brenda, but Suarez is first and foremost a **** (would be 'our' **** if he joins :)), so this is wishful thinking on Rodger's part.

The only BR quote in there was after the Melbourne game...

"The only talks there have been are between Luis and myself. There's no doubt the market nowadays is very small so Luis will always be linked with top clubs but I think the support he's received from the supporters and the people of the city of Liverpool has been unrivalled.

"In the period of time he's missed a lot of games for various reasons and the people have stood by him like a son and really looked after him. So I'm sure that, whatever happens in the coming weeks, that will be on his mind because it's certainly something you can never forget."

The rest has no substance, much like every other report that's been published.

Interesting development about the 'release clause'. Could be worth Liverpool selling at £40m rather than losing a court battle

A Premier League or legal hearing could ultimately be required to resolve the stand-off should it continue.
Daniel Geey, a football lawyer at Field Fisher Waterhouse, said: "Premier League regulatory commissions have previously been tasked to look at such cases, as Liverpool know from the Christian Ziege ruling in 2002. The difficulty in the Luis Suárez case is that, even if it went as far as a regulatory commission or to court, and the judge made it clear what the clause says, that is not going to happen before this transfer windowcloses and perhaps not even before the January transfer window closes.
"Presumably Arsenal are not supposed to know about any confidential clauses in Suárez's contract. That was the problem for Liverpool in the Ziege case when they were fined for making an illegal approach after they were informed of a £5.5m release clause in Ziege's [Middlesbrough] contract. The commercial reality is that Luis Suárez may have to force Liverpool's hand or Arsenal will raise their offer. Liverpool are not going to force the issue in relation to a provision which they believe does not allow Suárez to speak to prospective suitors."

It also points to wrong doings by Arsenal football club but feel free to ignore that bit <laugh>

It could just as easily be the case that Suarez agent contacted Arsenal and told them the clause - there is no evidence whatsoever of any wrong doings by Arsenal...

Not really, it depends on who disclosed the release clause. If Arsenal learned about that clause due to confidential negligence then there's **** all anybody can do about it. If it goes to court and the legal parameters of that clause state that £40m is a release figure, then Suarez is ours for £1 extra <ok>

Its been in every newspaper for weeks about this clause, all wenger needed to do to find out about it was pick up a copy of the sun

I can see a time when all players have release clauses of stupid money in their contracts.
There are enough clubs with the money these days, clubs are powerless to protect themselves, set the release clause at £100m for every player and much of this contention disappears....

Either way it seems as if this one will run for a long time. Hope not.

Translation: ignorance card played <laugh>

As that snipet says, Liverpool got into trouble for similar with Ziege. Something has got to have happened for Arsenal to know that activation amount. I doubt anything will happen because Liverpool won't complain, but the point is still there. I only mentioned it because someone on here was laughing at us Liverpool fans for mentioning it earlier today (can't remember who it was though).

Edit: see #176 <laugh>

PS...I know I've spent a lot of time on this board today, feel free to tell me to piss off if you want <laugh>
