Would we have sold rvp to utd if he still had 3 years left on his contract? We're not getting suarez, and not because we havnt offered enough

We'll get him. We have to.

I agree. I think it will go down to the last day of the window though, with Liverpool saying he's not for sale for anything less than £50m, us saying we're not going to pay much more than £40m, Suarez having a massive hissy fit with Pool and eventually settling at around £44m on the last day ..... <ok>

Guess it depends on the contract and/or how much Arsenal/Wenger are/is willing to part with

Subject to the contract, he won't go for less than £50m if that is what the club are saying <ok>

I think all the hate was coming from the spuds & that is only because they are **** scared of you lot overhauling them :)

<applause>

Spot on

Spuds used to try and bully Newcastle and Aston Villa when they were about matched, classic small man syndrome - they know their bigger and better neighbours are far superior to them, so they try and pick on clubs that are just below them.

The whole 'Mouser' thread on the spuds board is classic cowardly tactics, trying to pick on somebody weaker, because all the big boys won't let them play with them.

That's what they are saying at the moment because they are trying to get the best price for him, but Suarez has made it clear he wants to leave and to be honest if anybody looks like they can do a good sulk, it's him. If it comes to the last day of the window and the highest offer on the table is a £40m+ from Arsenal, then Liverpool will be mad to try and hang onto him.

I can't see this transfer saga lasting that long. I think if Liverpool want a replacement they will have to convince him to stay, or get rid. Soldado ain't gonna hang around for ever.

Selling him on the last day of the window would be the absolute worst thing liverpool could do

He has three years left on his contract and the club have been trying to make a stance of not being a pushover. Plus, Suarez won't sulk once the window has closed, nor can he refuse to play before then because he is banned anyway. He he does refuse to play after that, we can fine him two weeks wages every time he does it; tidy profit maker! On the other side, refusing to play won't help his career, see Tevez for more details <ok>

That's an optimistic apprasial of the situation <laugh> Personally, I think once a player has indicated that he wants to leave a club, there's not a whole lot they can do about it other than try and get the best price they can for that player.

I disagree, I think a club can do something if they want to, especially when a player has numerous years left on his contract. The question is, is the club willing to take a gamble on a valuable asset?

And therefore we won't sell him if it gets to that stage

I'm not so sure fella. If there's a £40m+ figure on the table and Suarez wants out, then I think you'll sell. We'll see what happens <ok>

I guarantee the club won't sell on the last day of the window UNLESS we have a suitable replacement already lined up. FSG and Ayre will have learnt from the Carroll / Torres situation <ok>

Edit: I feel the need to point out that I'm not a 'blind faith' fan either <laugh>

If madrid are smart they'll wait until the last few days of the window and offer £35m odd take it or leave it. Liverpool might not have much choice but to accept

That's what it comes down to, whether Liverpool want to take the gamble. To be fair, Suarez doesn't look like the 'I'll just keep my head down and get on with my football' type of player. I might be wrong, but if he kicks up a stink about wanting to leave, then Liverpool might see it as the better option to cash in and use the money on the squad.

Suarez loves playing football, you can see that when he is on the pitch. He has never been in a situation where he doesn't want to be at a club but unable to move (ie, outside a transfer window) so who knows what he'd do.

To be fair, he didn't look very happy today in that clip that SJW posted. His body language spoke volumes.
