Reportedly, we were given a deadline of last Thursday to pay the £25mil, which Villa refused to negotiate, and to complete the deal. We were not prepared to pay that, and backed out of negotiations. How much truth there is to that, I don't know. But it would not surprise me at all if it were pretty close to the truth.
£25 million is a piss take mate, you were quite right to decline that. He could go either way next season and end up the 'new Adebayor', and Villa will be ****ed. I don't expect him to go that way, but he could, £15 million tops, maybe add-ons to 18-20.
Looks like Bale's days are numbered on the wing then. Seems AVB has taken the (sensible) decision to move him into that free role given the success he had there last season.
This could a possible formation next season that I think would work: (4-2-3-1) {Bale playing behind the striker/ or as a 2nd striker} ____________Loris Walker___ Kabul___Vetonghen ___BAE/new signing ____Paulinho/Sandro __Dembelle Lennon_______Bale____________Chaldi ________Soldado (new striker)
Chadli should provide good competition for wing positions to Lennon, Sigurdsson, Townsend and Dempsey. On Holtby I have to say he seems to run about a lot and pull off a flick every now and then but not offer much else.
2 different styles completely, chalk n cheese, not remotely similar...You come here to talk football...why? its a subject you know so little about! You've started a thread to eventually get onto your anti Holtby diatribe is all that this is.
I also suspect it might be ingrained it the current bunch of refs despite the man not being there. He still casts a giant shadow.
Agreed, if we stay with 4231. If we go 433 though we could field a very tall and strong 11 with: Lloris; Walker, Dawson, Kaboul, Benny; Paulinho, Sandro, Dembele; Bale, Ade, Chadli. We'd be like Stoke except we can play football
...I suppose it would never occur to someone as dim as you that a poster might not necessarily be in England...its not bedtime or past it where I am.
Bizarre, he's your best defender at the moment and a million times better than Assou-Ekotto at LB IMO.
Please, notso, you've got to stop owning PESKIE. It's simply not fair, and pretty dull for us, too. I mean, who wants to watch a turkey-shoot?
District - I wouldn't agree Vertonghen is a better left back than BAE. BAE is vastly under rated with opposition fans IMO.
I was listing what a tall, strong team we could field and didn't think to put Vertonghen at left back.
