For a start, that midfield doesn't exist. Next off, you're trying to tell Spurs fans about the qualities of a player that you bought from Spurs. Did that not strike you as a little unnecessary? Kagawa hasn't set the Premier League alight, by any means, so how can you put that ahead of a variety of players that have already proven themselves? Really overrating that midfield.
You have named 3 attacking midfielders in Cheleas midfield. Who is doing the covering The 30 year old de Rossi? He'll get breezed past ( remember this is the same De Rossi whos Roma side was torn to shreds by United and hes not as good as he was then ). Surely Ramires would be in there rather than one of the AM's ad Luiz may well play a part in midfield. Chelsea will play a 5 man midfield imo. AM AM AM --CM-CM-- Like that. They have 6 players for the AM rolls and less options in CM. ramires will be one for certain. Its good dont get m wrong. Citys midfield like their sqaud is massively overrated based on absolutely nothing. Toure cant be arsed, fernandinho is a 28 year old waste of money ( look at who Spurs signed, better player for half the money ). Silva is another who looks like hes not bothered. Barry better than any of Uniteds midfielders? maybe Cleverly and Anderson, maybe. Spurs is good. powerful but lacks that goal threat that fabregas and kagawa will bring to Uniteds. Of course ive not even considered any of Uniteds wingers as I think we will move away from that sort of thing but rate nani highly. A fresh start for him and what we all know hes capable of means hes another midfield goal threat. I think spurs would out muscle us but as long as we had the ball it would be tough for you to get it back. Potentially a cracking couple of games coming up between our two sides. Remind me who is in Arsenals midfield, I forget as they keep selling everyone.
I guess you missed Toure last season. I'll assume your thinking of the Toure of 2 years ago. He doesnt exist anymore. He doesnt even want to be at City. as for fern, I hope you are not being serious. Ovr priced player who has played in ukraine v a world class midfielder who was the PL's best and has won everything in the game. A player who started more games than Xavi last season for Barcelona. So yeh, keep pulling the other one.
If you're counting a 4-2-3-1 as having a five man midfield, as you have with Chelsea, then I'm not sure how Spurs' lacks a goal threat. Gareth Bale got one or two last season, as I recall. Paulinho seems to know where the back of the net is, too. Our problem is a lack of creativity and a truly top-notch striker.
Fair dos then I retract the delusion part, but I disagree you'll have the best midfield based on two/three players.
We bought Carrick years ago and hes a far better player now. A fantastic player infact. Few players like him in football. theres a reason we've been looking for a partner for carrick and no a replacement. Hes brilliant. Such a shame we have not been able to give him the partner in midfield he deserves. I also said IF we get Fabregas. Im well aware of our failings in midfield and a world class midfielder like Fab would drastically change that. kagawa started slow as I said, he showed what he can do towards the end and at times some of the football was wonderful. A year on I am assuming he will continue to improve.
Moorpheus suggested that a three man midfield of Dembele, Sandro and Paulinho would lack a goal threat, but you extended the discussion from central midfield into the wider spectrum. I assume that Man Utd wouldn't field three proper forwards with that midfield, so it's not really an accurate comparison. How did you assume that Chelsea's midfield would be lightweight and get overrun when compared to the even more lightweight one that you put forward for Utd, by the way? Not much protection from Carrick, Fabregas and Kagawa, especially when compared with that on offer from Spurs or Man City. Very creative, but not a lot of protection for the defence, barring Carrick's contribution. The Geordie was excellent at Spurs, by the way. That's why you bought him. He floundered for a while at Old Trafford, but he's returned to the form that he had at WHL. I've seen nothing to suggest a massive improvement from that.
According to Wikipedia Xavi played 4 more games than Carrick. It's lousy reasoning anyway and you could easily apply it to Torres, who has won a lot and played 20 more games last season. Not sure about "World Class" either, I reckon I could list at least 10 midfielders better than Carrick.
i meant Fabregas. Carrick world class? He had a world class season last year but I think hes just below that level.
Just showing you what he said, he named 3 AM as part of Chelseas midfield so based on that I said they will play a 5 man midfield. they probably will. jose has already spoken about having 6 players for 3 positions.
And so will you, presumably. Either that or a 4 man midfield. Everyone will. There aren't many sides around that play 3 proper strikers and I can't see Utd being one of them, especially under Moyes. That'll either see Kagawa shunted out to the wing, Rooney left out or left altogether and a couple of wingers deployed, at which point your midfield really doesn't look that great, does it? You can see why Fellaini's been linked with a move to Old Trafford, especially with the lack of physicality in the middle, with Fletcher's unfortunate condition ruling him out.
