I think with Hants it's no great problem because it's just a little bit of discussion every week or so, problem here is that we're churning through three or four pages of Ashes discussion in a day's play and completely dominating the thread. I think most of the year it's fine having the cricket discussion mixed in, but for the Ashes and possibly World Cups (?) a break-away thread would be good.

If that's a challenge for me to increase my Hants output on here, I'll gladly take it up ;)

Starting with Surrey away tonight!

I'm wondering whether one should create a thread for one Test, then close it and start another for the following Test. Or just create an Ashes Test and renew it if/when it reaches 1000 posts, sort of like we treat Beefy's.

I think a general cricket thread then close it when it gets to 20000............

I see that the Arsenal forum has an Ashes thread. Do you pepys want one..? Seeing as it wouldn't be a permanent fixture I think I can safely assume there wouldn't be an objection from the other mods. Say Yes or No and I'll start one and sticky it if I get enough Yayers. OK..?

I've got other stuff to worry about.

Oh, didn't realise they were playing.

6.30 start. Sounds like McKenzie will be fit to start. No Maxwell for them, as he's joined up with the Australia A team.

Win tonight basically puts us in the QFs, with Kent still to play twice. Can focus on getting a home QF from then on, rather just qualifying.

But lose tonight - and our recent record at the Oval is awful - and it'll still be all to play for. Games in hand aside, there's nothing to split the four of us. And four into three (or even two) does not go.

Another thing...Can it be a general Cricket thread?...A few of us like to discuss Hants matches too.

I don't mind, it being summer and there is little Saints news, even though the club is doing splendidly to give us news, but there is a Not606 County Cricket forum. I suppose we could title it, The Ashes & Hampshire Cricket Summer Thread. How about that..?
