I remember being quite pleased when we signed Dickson. His career has really gone backwards since that point though.

Papiss Cisse refuses to play in Newcastle shirt with 'WONGA' on the front due to religious beliefs.

Fair play to him. He doesn't want to promote direct money lenders like Wonga. If you know the Bible, Jesus went into Herod's temple in Jerusalem, found money lenders and threw them out.

Always wondered what Jesus would make of Catholic churches selling cheap plastic tat in every major church. Sure he would have thrown the lot into the street.

It will be all subject to interpretation. People can be sincere in their beliefs without obeying every tenet laid down centuries ago. I bet most Muslim players won't fast in Ramadan because of the effect on their game.

It wouldn't be the only thing he'd disapprove of either. "Red wine is my blood? What are you, ******ed?"

Just for the record. I forgot that little detail. Nevertheless, Muslims obviously have their own religious example for the rejection of promoting money lenders and some stick by it.

As for Jesus throwing the plastic tat out into the street, I'm sure he would have.

So the Premier League have won a Court Order blocking access to First Row Sports by UK ISPs.

True. A few of Cisse's Muslim team mates don't. It's obviously a personal thing

The "official" stance is that Islam now accepts banks as a necessity, but considers excessive interest to be unethical. Coincidentally, I feel the same way.
