Hopefully this article jinxes it and we see the opposite in the next week....But I'm starting to get a bad feeling here, well into the transfer period now and no action yet in terms of signings, but lot's of stories of us basically trying to get our targets but coming up short, and sure many other clubs often struggle too in negotiations, but the problem with Arsenal is this happens a lot where we **** up in getting our targets, so we either get nobody and Wenger says how much he loves the squad, or we end up getting a much weaker alternative.

I've seen enough transfer windows over the past few summers to see all the evilllll warning signs that's currently cropping up in this transfer window. It's less than a month before the new season starts, less than 2 weeks to August and nothing done yet, just lot's of stories of if's and buts', been there done that, we need to get the bloody deals done. I don't want us to go into the new season listening to Wenger say "well we tried" no sir, we heard that 1 too many times before, I really doubt if any other top team has been as bad as Arsenal have been in acquiring their targets.

Hopefully after I write this article, I wake up to see we sign Suarez or Higuain, as well as a top midfielder and centre back.

We're not signing anyone for at least a fortnight, it's common knowledge Wenger likes to be involved in the transfer process, and he can't do that if he's in Asia

Cazorla joined in August, Giroud on July 26th, Arteta on deadline day, Santos came in pretty late, etc...
We generally get our deals done late so I'm not worried yet. Hopefully you have the Kyle touch ad we announce some guys ext week <ok>

How can you be happy with getting deals done late? It affects the squad, because the new players can't settle in immediately. The only reason we got Arteta is because ManUre raped us.

Agree with what Hans said, making late signings is NOT good, how many times do we have to get many players late and then say over the next month or 2 that the team is still gelling which is true? It's important to have them signed beforehand so they get to grips with the team, last season it took us until the 2nd half of the season to finally be able to play like a team, we almost ended out of the top 4 because of our months of team building and getting to grips with a new team. That small period of getting together could be what costs us a potential title challenge or not. So it's important to go into the season as strong as possible.

We need the new players now, not on September 2nd, everyone is in agreement that this team needs strengthening, so when do you strengthen the team? Before you start kicking a ball, not after.

I agree with what you say about late, but this is still early. Not all the players are back yet.

I`m not too bothered because the two players I want us to sign haven't gone anywhere yet; Higuain and Fellaini. Probably could wait another week or two before it gets to be `late`.

I'm not going to bash the board if we fail to get Fellaini, because so far we haven't made a bid, so that can be down to rumours. But it's obvious we have been going for Higuain and Suarez, so if we get neither, I'm going to get pissed because that's another case of us just failing in getting our targets.

Id say we need one of Rooney, Suarez, Higuain, Fellaini. If Bender joined, or someone of that ilk I would maybe be OK, there are still quite a few targets that might appease me.

Rooney is aware that both Arsenal and Chelsea want him, although he believes United would prefer to sell him to the Gunners rather than a potential title rival, according to the papers.

For promiscuous supermodels with a penchant for controversial publicity, perhaps.

Not my words, from the Mirror: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...chester-united-transfers-wayne-rooney-2058165

Apparently Rooney believes United will sell to an English club (arsenal) but not a title rival (chelsea).

If Arsenal get the right players, of course they could challenge for the title maybe this season, albeit briefly, imo.

Surprised the Mirror has written you off as "not potential title rivals".

I think its going to be Higuain or no one in terms of big names for us in this window, i'm sure there'll be a couple of other £10-15m players come in as well

Not sure whether I will or will not be good with that. It really depends on results. If Giroud, Podolski and Walcott bang in the goals, before Christmas, Ox turns into a DM and Sagna plays reserve CB, then maybe we don't need anyone. I still feel that we could do with another less attacking midfielder, and a bit more cover at RB/CB.

I also think that if he doesn't sign a big name striker, he is taking a risk if Giroud fails completely.

Most of the best realistic striking options are getting snapped up or have already gone to other Clubs.

I still maintain we need a World Class striker to mount a title challenge.

As always we are leaving it WAY too late - whoever we bring in is'nt getting a Pre Season. I would like to see one of Rooney, Suarez, Higuian or Jovetic join us but the way things are going we will probably end up with a mediocre addition like Remy.

Suarez is too expensive for Wenger, Jovetic is going to City, Utd wont sell to Arsenal and Higuain could be on his way to Napoli.

They all wrote us off the year we went unbeaten as well. It just makes it sweeter when we win. Eventually Arsenal will hit the top again, and prove the pundits wrong.
