I'm aware of that Blueman. As much as you like to categorise us all as "Manc wancs" and "plastics", some of us have been around for a while...

    I would've agreed with you a month or two ago but the other potential destinations look to have or have their targets sewn up;

    Bayern - Lewandowski
    PSG - Cavani
    Monaco - Falcao
    Madrid - Suarez
Juve - Tevez (if this even was a potential move)

Rooney was never going to go abroad. He's not even up for the challenge of trying to get into the United team let alone trying to integrate into a new country and club.

Bayern haven't signed Lewandowski I thought? I thought Dortmund was going to make him run down his contract, because they already solved Gotze to Bayern.

As far as replacing Rooney. I think Kagawa was signed to take over the number 10 role. Problem is we need better wide players to utilize Kagawa's play maker approach. Rooney is more of a striker who operated in the spaces behind the main striker. We'll need more of a goal threat with Kagawa playing as a no. 10.

They haven't but its pretty obvious Bayern will happily wait till next year to bag him for free.

So, with this in mind do you want him?

A man who on £250k a week can not raise the effort to fight for his position in the league champions team.

Is that who you want to be signing?

Honestly yes, I believe if played up front he's world class and will make a huge difference to us. I actually kind of believe him when he says he wants a new challenge too.

Although if he signs for Arsenal you will consider him overrated and lacking in ambition?

What is this new challenge he craves? A team where there isn't a striker good enough to keep him out of the first choice XI? Scratch that, he's seen Torres!

Personally I think even a half arsed Rooney is good enough to get into the current Utd, City, Chelsea and pretty much all other sides in the PL. That's part of the problem - he's gotten too good and can get by just coasting along so that's all he does. It's why he's so underwhelming for England.

Tho' I can't see us selling him to Chelsea no matter what. I doubt we'd sell a top class player to one of our title rivals, or even a rival (a la Heinze).

    - Moyes will not want his first transfer window to see a big player go to a rival club, unless we have already secured a top class (i.e. Bale or Ronaldo class) replacement. That's the only real caveat in my argument - if we get one of those two then Moyes will probably carry Rooney to Stamford Bridge himself

    - The board won't want to sell, regardless of the money, cos it would be fuel for the Green and Gold brigade to start causing trouble again, again unless there's a marquee signing. The last thing the board will want is for us to start acting like Arsenal

    - Rooney will not want to spend the best part of his career in the reserves at Utd, so if push comes to shove we will be able to force him to move abroad, again a la Heinze. Wouldn't rule out a bid for Real tbh - they have a history of taking English players who are either past their best or getting a bit full of themselves. And Benzema and Higuain have had the same playing-within-themselves-not-really-arsed syndrome for the last couple of years, so Real may be willing to roll the dice on Rooney

    - Chelsea paid £50m for Torres a couple of years ago who was a similar great player running down the clock and not being arsed kind of buy. Chelsea would need to go that high to get Rooney, and I doubt they will

I may well be wrong, but it just sounds to improbable to me.

Why do you love to stereotype? I wouldn't think that at all, I've genuinely never had a problem with Rooney and have always liked him as a player.

The new challenge of playing for a different team in front of new fans, winning trophies for a different team, life I'm a new city. He's not exactly a born and bred United fan, it's a career to him.

I get all that apart from the comment about you being a new city.

Chelsea makes sense to be honest. I mean where else could he go? I don't see him fairing well abroad. We could force him to stay for a while, but then end up lowering his price.

I think Rooney will go to Monaco.

There's no way United are going to weaken their squad (without reinforcement) having lost a world class manager. It's more the message it sends out. United are not Arsenal, they have a different way of doing things and I think they'd happily see Rooney leave for free, out of principle, than sell him to a potential title rival.

Monaco will be desperate to make a huge statement of intent given PSG now have Cavani and Ibra and I think they'll add Rooney to their new look side.

There's no way back for Rooney at United and I think they'll look to strengthen the midfield and rely on RVP banging in the goals, Hernandez may be one dimensional and a limited footballer but his goal scoring record is pretty incredible.

I'm aware of that. But PSG have 2 quality strikers and I think Monaco will want 2 as well. It really is tit for tat Between those two. Akin to Real Madrid and Barca in Spain.
