When was the last time we sold Chelsea one of our best players?
He's Chelsea bound methinks.

I think he is as Chelsea are the only club who will match his wages. Monaco have Falcao, PSG have Cavani, Real have Ronaldo and he wouldn't get a game at Barca so Chelsea it is.
Unless he fancies a project in Russia!
I've said on a few occasions that Fergie was planning for a Rooneyless United for the past couple of years. He retired before it could happen but had the old man stayed on I think the outcome would have been the same. Fergie indulged him when he needed him back in 2010. I don't think the team needs him anymore so now is the right time to cash in.
£30million would be about right. We will need to replace him though as whilst RVP is the business, Hernandez sometimes struggles against the very best teams and Welbeck is a defensive striker. Any replacement would have to accept though that they are RVP's understudy! I wonder if OGS is still up to the job?
If you can't work out my point from that.....
Before Ronaldo, when was the last time you sold your best player to Real Madrid? If a player doesn't want to stay and a club will meet the asking price then why wouldn't they sell? That's my point.
Chelsea could afford him no doubt but why would we sell him to Chelsea? Not like we need the money.
Not really about that, why would you want to keep an unhappy player on 250k odd per week who's only going to decline if he's unhappy, for two more years? You won't get a better price for him after this window.

Let's be clear though, we will never be able to replace Rooney and this is the start of United's decline. It's been coming since 1995 but this is finally it.
Because selling him to you would improve your team and your a domestic rival....
Because it not only weakens us, but strengthens a direct rival in the title race, as well as multiple cup competitions.
£1m a month to have someone who's going to sulk when you can just use the £25-30m to replace him?

I don't think it'll start a decline. A club is always bigger than any player. Life goes on.
