It sets an ugly precedent.

Already we have puffs who fret about shirt design and innovations. They demand classic with a twist, unique templates and non sonic orange.

Next it will a name change every 3 years maybe to include sponsors' name. Imagine the sponsorship money to be raked in.

Hull City

Hull Tigers

North Humber Siemens

East Yorkshire Tigers

Hull Tiger Beer

The list is endless.

You're forgetting Yorkshire Orange.

Boston Red Sox - Hull Amber Stripes
Miami Dolphins - Hull Tigers or Hull SabreTooths or the full American, Hull Big Catz
River Plate - Humber or Hull (simple, just leave out "City")
Lazio, Juventus, Everton, Espanyol, clubs from "mystery" locations -so how about, Kingston, or we could Americanise it to Kingston King Kongs, I like the sound of that, ...and now from Stamford Bridge, its Chelsea versus Kingston King Kongs
Hey, and with teams in Egypt such as Suez Cement , Petrojet, & Al Aluminium, roll drum please for Hull Allam Marine or for even greater resonance, give it up for Hull Cash Converters

that's football nowadays ... you either join the ride or **** off ... yes the "good old days" are gone .. time to adapt mr dinosaur

Only no other club has felt the need to do this.

No club has increased it's revenue by changing it's name to appeal to a foreign market.

Still, if Assem thinks it's a good idea and he's a successful bloke, then I imagine many dimwitted ****s will be happy to run with it, even if it's ****ing stupid.

they have put their money where it matters when needed most .. either buy the club or go see the hull city/hull tigers/melton warriors or whatever we will be called ... voices mean nothing in business ... it pounds and pounds only ... really easy concept matey

Basically you mean you guzzle down any old cum from all comers regardless? That's good to know. You know that there are people who vote for/ believe/ accept these ****wit politicians but I'd never met any until now.

I hope the fact that you're happy to be ****ed up the arse doesn't leave you with a limp. <ok>

Hull Tigers sounds like a ****ing awful RL team - please, no that won't happen! It can't happen!

Hull City Tigers sounds like a ridiculous American name and would indeed make us a laughing stock. Why don't we just get out the cheerleaders and make all our matches four hours long with only one hour of play while we're at it?

Hull City, "Tigers" might just work as a commercial brand idea but leave it at that.

Rise like lions after slumber / in un-vanquishable number - shake your chains to earth like dew / which in sleep had fallen on you - ye are many - they are few.

one day maybe the people will find a way to take the game back from the money men. A football 'spring' perhaps.

what if fans of all clubs got together & raised enough cash to buy as many tickets as poss to one game then didnt turn up as a protest, thousands of empty seats on TV they wouldnt like it, a gesture of the potential power that the fans have...

We tried that at Huddersfield but our flaskers spoiled it

Yeah lets kick the money men out of football and give the game back to the fans. Rich owners, Sky money, BT money, businesses sponsoring stadiums, they've all ruined it all for the real fans.

Fo' real?

I wonder how long before whole leagues of clubs went into administration. How long before grounds fell into disrepair. How long before clubs just disappeared. How much would ticket prices rise.

The game needs that money. Without the money, there is no game.

Regarding the original topic on here, its a change I could easily live with. Just to be different, I'm not going to start insulting those that think differently. I know at the end of the day, we'll all still be here.

why are Coventry fans being screwed, why did Portsmouth get ruined, why Blackburn, what nearly ruined us? etc etc

Money grabbing players / owners etc

of course the game needs money but the money needs the game too

I will add my voice to the objectors. I have said it out loud a few times and it has not grown on me, Hull City Tigers just sounds so stupid. I don't see any good reason for a change, we are known as The Tigers anyway. If it goes ahead then I think everyone will just have to totally ignore the name and refuse to buy any merchandise which advertises this.

In the 70s, Sunderland and Sheffield fans would mock us with chants of 'Hull City Rollers' - a play on words on a popular Caledonian pop group of that era, noted for their outlandish and laughable garb.

It's a ****e idea and change for change sake. Assem is a dominant character, hence this and also the stadium impasse. More will follow, be sure of that; but it is his club . . .

As for the stark hypocrisy and double standards of some posters, it is an abject lesson in one rule for some and another for the rest.

Quite a few have said they are now bored, but the same posters labour their much repeated point. Some have argued when they should have sent each over PMs - according to the doctrine of mods, past and present.

Or, perhaps, maybe arguing your point is what a forum is for and if bored don't read it? As for being told to use PMs, as is the tendency of some, PMs add nothing to a forum debate and individual altercations should have public scrutiny to shape an end product.

Back to topic, ish; anyone who hears someone talk of a Hull team as 'Hull' and thinks it might be City, is either not from Hull or has lived in a bubble - oh, dear, don't go near that one!

The game never needed the insane money of SKY, etc. The players, managers, etc. would have been paid a fair wage and football would have evolved regardless of dosh. It is all too easily forgotten that it is the love of the game that keeps most of us involved and we do that at our own expense. The game does not need the cash; just one format of the game that the cash needs to survive - just as other sports survive off the back of football.
