@football_oranje: Spotlight on Leroy Fer http://t.co/zX9GcbZC0w These guys have put together a nice little description of our target
Hmm, they don't really paint him as the creative presence I was hoping for, more a cross between Johnson and Howson, capable of breaking up play and carrying the ball forwards. Looking at his stats though, 13 goals and 7 assists from 47 games last season is better than Johnson (P40, 1G, 3A), Tettey (P31, 1G, 2A) and Howson (P30, 2G, A). So perhaps he makes more chances than I'm giving him credit for (Or he's a FK taker!)
Toivonen, sounds like thats dead and maybe for the best Fer, why would he turn up for a medical, reportedly, if its a smokescreen to entice bigger clubs? Surely that would happen at the fee agreed or initial talks stage, i don't know
Really we have no idea what's going on, redmond was basically confirmed on twitter 48 hours before an announcement. Depending on who you listen to the Olsson deal has been done all week but we only heard tonight. It could well us that is delaying, maybe it take a while to get £5/8m together.
FC Twente Online ‏@FCTwenteOnline 6m Dutch site Elf Voetbal: 'Fer will be unveiled at Norwich tomorrow' Now I hope this is true....
Doubt it's the money bath, like any business transaction there would be payment terms so you'd have time to pay Also look at Liverpool, they owe Swansea money for joe allen
Its not money speed, trust me. You can do an instant transfer across the world these days. Not showing off or anything but I transfered £400k to buy a new business unit instantly. With the internet banking and IBAN these days its so easy.
I think Andy may have already hit the nail on the head - International Clearance. Wouldn't have been an issue with Olsson as he's had a previous English club, but Fer would require the FA to pre-approve it, which 24-48hrs is probably a fair time period for.
The player’s agent has confirmed that the player will be presented and will officially sign before Friday of this week. The Oranje international is believed to have completed a medical today along with Swedish defender Martin Olsson, who is set to complete a £2.5m deal from English Championship side Blackburn Rovers. A fee in the region of €8m has been agreed for the player and he should join up with Chris Hughton’s side before they fly out to America for their pre-season tour.
Toivonen related news: http://sport.fok.nl/nieuws/607638/1/1/50/geduld-norwich-met-toivonen-is-op.html http://www.ed.nl/sport/voetbal/psv/toivonen-wil-niet-naar-norwich-1.3909097? Both basically suggesting that we're now moving on and looking at alternatives.
seriously guys, nothing to worry about here. just the formalities. happens with every single move. he's our player
So that's just short of £7m on him, £2m on Redmond, £1.3m on Garrido, and £2.5m on Olsson, totalling £12.8m spent, with £3.4m recovered from sales, leaving £9.4m as the current outlay. If we still want a striker or two and an attacking midfielder, we're probably going to be looking at £17m or so as a summer budget?
So who is that so far? Carlo Nash - GK Olsson - LB Garrido - LB Redmond - LW Van Wolfswinkel - ST Fer - CM/DM? With Toivonen - CAM (less likely), Hooper - ST and Alderweireld - CB possible... If Toivonen and/or Hooper deals fall through who are the next most likely to fill these positions? Do we have anyone in `2nd' place?
That's the only thing that concerns me about Toivonen falling through, except Van Ginkel I can't remember another CAM being linked.
'However, the Swede had doubts about a move to the English average performer' Beautifully put! I know the translation can be dodgy, but he can feck off as far as I'm concerned.
Hughton has said repeatedly that the majority of players we've been considering haven't been reported. I imagine there are lots of irons in the fire and with every impressive signing we make the more interesting we become to other players, for example Fer and RVW are only a year apart and will have come through the dutch youth program together. Complete aside, this window are oldest signing is 20 years older than our youngest signing.
