Apparently,if this refers to signings, he'd rather not have egg on face like has happened to some on here in the past and would at least wait until all the talk became an actual fact.Being a miserable, negative Git however,he'd have been happy to see a few young home growns given a go at least at the start of the season with the future in mind even if doesnt bring instant success.but quick success seems to be required now by fans Apparently also, he wont be joining in all the ''positive'' C Palace/Holloway snipings currently going on. Doesnt wanna be chuckled at by the outside world at what looks like a clear case of sour grapes after a certain day in May at Wembley. That Old Nick Git aint a I.Holloway fan but people might wonder about the references on here to his brain when he obviously outsmarted Zola that day !
Did he really 'outsmart' Zola? Mmmmmmmmm...I thought CP were just slightly less rubbish than we were on the day.
Yes, because the Orns have league fixtures v the likes of Burnley, Millwall this season. Old Ian and His Boys are due to visit Old Traff ,Stamford B ...and that Hull place
I get told off on here for bringing up Wembley, but it does look like Old Hols did a far better job in motivating his lot that day than did Zola.People on here didnt seem to want to question the performance much andchose to concentrate on the crowd noise! Something also seemed lacking with Watford in the few weeks towards the end of season.I actually LIKE Zola as a player(ex) and like the mans character, but he came with doubts from his last job ,yes obviously did a good job at VR in getting that team together until it tailed off somewhat. This season might determine whether he has what it takes to be a manager, for all his other talents he may not be much more suitable than me or my Dog (although he knows considerably more about football than me). Hate to sound even a bit positive ,but hope you DO succeed Zola(!) think in view of the setup the owners would be happier with a fellow Italian which could help you.
Hi Nick to be fair having an injured vydra and fessi didnt help our cause ,that and the fact bar Almunia and Doyley the rest got stage fright ! I dont think it had much to do about holloway outsmarting Zola , just being in right place at right time , dont forget an injured fessi so nearly grabbed a last gasp equalizer we didnt deserve!
Exactly. Twice they cleared the ball off the line so it wasnt all them. It took a penalty in the last minute of injury time to win it for god sake. We had more shots, more corners and only 2% less possession. Thats not really the stats of a team who were overwhelmed or dominated. One mistake lost us the match.
I think it's the use of the word 'outsmart'. No, I don't think he outsmarted Zola at all. Both sides were poor and Palace won with a pen in the 115th minute. Unless you are suggesting that was Hollowhead's 'plan'?
Only just got round to reading up some of the posts, but do think that we sometimes overlook the fact that two teams are involved in a game. So often after a game when we have not destroyed the opposition I see comments about how bad we were, or didn't play to our normal standard without any real consideration of the other side. Any match will involve players who have been given a plan that sometimes will work, but other times the opposing players will do better. I have often said that football is one thing that you pay good money to go and watch, yet have no idea what you will get for your money. You just have to take what is served up, sometimes good and sometimes poor.
According to The Daily Star we are looking at Jeremy Helan from Man City. He was on loan to Sheffield Wednesday last season. How reliable is the Star? My instinct says it isn't.
Apparently we tried to get him in January but he opted to go back to Sheff Weds on loan. I think we were trying to sign him permanently then. If I remember, he is a left winger but also play left back (or the other way round), so assumed we were after cover/competition for Pudil. If we sign Romero, I would say LWB is pretty much covered with him and Pudil... Although Helan has been at Man City for about 4 years now and still only 21, so assume he would count as 'home grown', which we will still need to keep an eye on
No one even talked about being overwhelmed, dominated -it was a close game. I know its your 'Lads' Dan but fact is the Orns went in to the match rightly as favourites as had clearly been the better team for most of the season, and with generally the better players than the S London lot. Summat went wrong on the day, all those goals during the season, hardly a shot at Wembley. You MUST have felt at least a little let down ! Maybe Norways stage fright theory has something to it, but I would have thought that too many of the players were a bit too experienced for that.
There's no doubt that we didn't turn up for the Palace game and furthermore Hollowhead DID tactically get the better of GFZ. But hey, let's get over it. Onwards and upwards lets get back to interesting rumours!
Thats wrong, we had 15 shots that day, only one less than the home playoff semi and 2 less than the away leg. Palace only had 12 shots in the final! I dont think either team played well on the day, it came down to whoever made the fewest mistakes and unfortunately Cassetti made a fatal mistake.
10 Jul 2013 11:00:14 Danny Graham interesting Watford Fc, Still got property close. Would he get a look in?
Old Nick, you trip yourself up, your comments don't deserve selective editing and no i did not waste my time re-typing i let your words speak for you. I just find them amusing and there for entertaining. Now if you would like to elaborate...
