I think we will bring in 1 striker on a permanent deal (Hooper) and then a young loanee again, Nick Powell i heard the other day, he would be an interesting one!

we need 2 strikers the ajax player sounds good aswell plus fer sounds good i think thats all we need 2 strikers at least get that defender and that midfielder we should be set

that would be pushing our spending i'd say given wages need to be taken into account -

hooper 6m
an other striker say 3m
Fer 6m
alderwald or whatever his name is 6m

that's 21m plus 3m on Redmond and whatever we paid on garrido
excludes rvw as assume that is out of money saved from January

yes but we chopped lots of wages off already aswell with the people gone from club i think midfield we are covered unless someone else is leaving from the midfield to make place for one but we do need the strikers and the defender to back up bassong

dont forget we are getting money in as well for Holt plus some small change for other transfers out like jed steer which will help to balance the budgets

hi cove.

i spoke to an ajax fan on twitter last night who thinks he's a better prospect than vertonghen - he thinks arsenal (his 2nd team by the sounds of it) should be in for him. i have never seen alderweierld in the flesh (don't think he played against us last summer, going from memory) so only have a few games on tv to go on but he strikes me as a more physical defender than vertonghen and more alert defensively. decent ball playing centre back, like the spurs man too and a danger at set pieces. i would rate them very similarly but i appreciate you probably know a lot more about his strengths and weaknesses than i do! i wonder if £4.5m might be enough to get him if paid all up front.
Deluded, that's the only word that comes to mind.

Alderweireld is slower, not very creative, does not have the long pass Vertonghen has and I've seen him caught out on a counter attack countless times for example against Real Madrid. 5-6 million pounds will do me thinks. Alderweireld may be two years younger but he is certainly not the better prospect.

Does anyone have any idea of the actually figure we are getting for Holt. I've heard 2 and 4 million. The second one would be preferable.

Goodness me this week's rumours are getting me rather excited!

If (and it's quite a big if) we can land Olsson, Fer and Alderweireld, I reckon we'll still need an attacking midfielder and preferably two new strikers. However, if we got Toivonen as an attacking mid, I'd drop that to one new striker being necessary as I think Ola would be versatile enough to play in more of an attacking role than any of our other midfielders if needs be.

ok, thanks for the feedback cove <ok>

i'm of the opinion that even if he's not as good as vertonghen, he's still going to be a good signing for norwich if the fee is reasonable. interesting you think he's worth £5-6m

to say we don't need anyone new in midfield is a little worrying. did you not watch our midfield last season?!

I agree if we get Ola sorted then he's natural cover for a forward position too. Just nagging doubt it will ever turnaround. Didn't we have a deadline to talk with him last week? Just doesn't strike me that he's up for it. I'm a long way from the action tho so who knows what's going on behind closed doors.

We have him already Carlton Morris!

this is true! i'd be wary of throwing the murphy twins into the action at the moment but i think morris has the physical attributes to be capable of doing a job, certainly in the cup games. i do think you need four strikers who are all capable of coming into a match so if we do count morris then we only require one more striker.

ps. i had no idea charlie austin failed his medical. probably had a hangover... <whistle>

Ola, Fer, Hooper, Toby would probably just about complete the squad then. That's still probably £20m + high wages though.

Give the lad time, it may happen it may not but this is a huge decision for him. We lack the glamour that the top clubs have and so players will naturally bide there time, weigh up their options and generally wringe every penny out of the club they finally join by not jumping too quickly. Lets remember we can offer him good but not great wages (by football standards) but we are very unlikely to give him winners medals or european competition. It would be like marrying the first girl you saw when you turned 18 (and it turning out to be that odious beast Jodie Marsh) only to walk round the corner and see Scarlett Johannsen next.
If he takes his time over the decision we can only hope that he rounds the corner and see's Susan boyle (QPR) or Anne Widdecombe (1p5wich) and thinks I'll have some of that Norwich (no beauty queen but appealing none the less - Myleene Klass) He could always divorce us in a couple of years if he manages to turn the head of a Russian super model!

Bah!
