re: ruddy, the thing is, our club hold all the cards here. ruddy recently signed a new 4 year deal and we are under no pressure whatsoever to sell him. if the player wants to leave (and he might, i don't know) then it's not actually up to him - unless chelsea make us an offer we simply cannot refuse (i'm talking £15m here) then nothing will happen. people may say we'd have an unhappy player on our books but i don't buy it myself. he's a sound lad is big john.
So hang on a minute? Has Holt Actually said that he wants to leave yet? What's the situation here? I know we have accepted a bid but does Holt want to leave?
Well, if - as reported, he is having a medical today, one would assume he does. If he didn't, he'd be in Austria with the rest of the squad, surely?
i would have preferred to keep him but i can see why the club have allowed it and i certainly see why from the players point of view. i think its a shame because i feel he still had a role to play next season but hey ho... can't always get what you want!
Stupid question and I have no time to look but is there a list of who has made the trip to Austria. I have heard from someone we are real close to another 2 outfield players as well as stand in keeper.
I had convinced myself that he would be heading up to Parkhead as part of a deal for Hooper to come here. Seemed to be a good fit for all parties but I can understand him dropping a level, keeping his salary intact and moving to be with his family rather than staying here playing second fiddle to RvW and going home to an empty house. It will be interesting to see who we get to fill the big man's shoes. Looking forward to a couple of weeks speculation and at least one stellar signing.
I wonder how close we could be to signing Fer! I just can't see it happening, but hope I'm seriously wrong lol
i doubt celtic wanted him to be honest. like us, they have a very particular way of buying players. tend to be young and promising with re-sale value. that move would have interested holty but probably not them so much
Makes sense given their finances. they need to sell at a profit just like we used to. A shame because I'd have loved to see Holty score a barrow full of goals and pick up some more silverware to finish off his career. That said if Wigan keep buying well then he could be in for another medal in 2014 and a return home in 2015 to, one would hope, a heroes welcome.
