Wiki quick to get off the mark Will be good if it does come to fruition http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leroy_Fer
Lot's of rumours about N'doye and that we need to pay up to £10m to get him. Am I the only person who think thats a lot for someone in their late 20's? I dont know much about him as a player I have to add.
you're not, and i do not believe the club are interested in signing a 29 year old for £10m. it's a smokescreen as far as i'm concerned.
I'd say Fer is more likely than N'doye, CH would never pay that! and Fer would be a better buy in my opinion.
from the little i have seen of Fer, he would be an immense signing for us. he appears to be so much better than either Jonno or Tetts thus increasing our attacking abilities to service RvW and others in the attack.
i think leroy fer is a possibility. he's back from holiday today i think so we may learn more by the end of this week. did anyone see the rumours of toby alderweireld at the weekend? jeez, that guy is a fantastic centre half, plays a bit like rio ferdinand in his prime. that would be a hell of a coup but i'd be very surprised if we pulled that one off!! still, encouraging to be strongly linked to this type of quality.
Supers I totally agree. If he is available I would add him to our most wanted hit list. I know CB might not be our prime position to improve on but if a player of that caliber is avauilable and you could sign him I think you should try and make it happen. He is streats ahead of our current CB's and would drastically improve us. Obviously we need strikers but improvements to any of the core positions could be huge for a team thats trying to push on. I also still get concerned about if Seb gets injured. Turner and Bennett have both shown they are good partners for him but i still worry about them if we were starting them together. If we were starting with Bassong and Alderweireld I think thats a formidible defence. My current transfer wants are: Alderweireld Fer Hooper LB Obviously a 3rd choice GK too and maybe another AM/ST although Toivonen could cover both? I realise that may all come to around £20-£25m, a bit ambitious i think!!
Your right about Toby I think a little out of our league currently, may be some day. On the other hand it does make me slightly nervous that as we reach for the stars, we may find them out of reach and then plan B (see bechio* in January) may have to be hastily put together as the window closes. Will Hull, Palace etc snap up all the best options who might have joined us had we not been chasing the improbable? I think (and hope) we learnt from the Jan window and hope that we have perhaps even sounded out some less stratuspheric options already and have options moving forward. Bah! *I still think bechio could be a success with us and he could be a very useful squad player
there's been plenty of rumours and reports of martin olsson coming in at left back, but nothing concrete as yet. to be honest, i think our biggest 'signing' of the summer would be keeping john ruddy. let's hope we do that
I see Blackburn have just signed a Left Back ( Matt Kilgallon). Martin Olsson on his way out presumably. Interesting development.
When you mention Alderweireld in that way it made me think. For all this talk (I amoungst them) of the defensive solidarity coming from defending with 8 may be this lad could be the key. If we can defend really well with 4 then our midfield could be a lot freer to get forward and create. Come on DM go get him! Bah!
I should probably add, that yes I know that all teams now defend from the front so its a 11 man effort (perhaps why darren Bent can't find any suiters) but you get my point of a less defensive midfield mindset! Bah!
I totally agree, its not just stopping the opposition scoring it can even be as simple as slowing opposition attacks allowing other players to get in position. I really rate Alderweireld as high or higher than anyone else we have been linked with so far.
sky sports news are reporting that chelsea have had a second bid rejected for john ruddy. baring in mind they said on friday evening that we were in 'advanced talks' i think we can assume they know pretty much **** all about the situation
Just heard a rumour, that we could see another 2 or 3 new faces at CR this week!!!! No Names offered though.
not sure where you've got this from but i'm 99.9% certain ruddy traveled to austria with his team mates. i suppose he may have flown back
