Oh sweet jesus, are you that thick? It's not "how things work" you idiot, it's cronyism corruption exploitation and greed. "How things work" Thats just a little sentence to say "I have no ****ing idea what it means or what the **** I am talking about"
He has a point gas, electricity, water belonged to us all and should never have been sold off but it did. I'm pretty sure there's plenty of similar instances in most countries.
Besides cronyism greed and dishonesty are not exclusive to the UK and as it happens all over the globe it would se that's exactly how it works. Move on son
It really is how things work. It is how things have worked for centuries all over the world and you're being a fool to think otherwise. How the hell do you think the rich get rich? It's by being smart enough to take advantage. Is it any different to mill owners in the UK centuries ago? No. Is it any different to land owners centuries ago grabbing land from the peasants? No. You're a muppet and completely out of touch with reality if you think otherwise.
And anyone who knows the slightest bit about Russia knows that the majority of Russian people have been asset stripped to fund oligarch's yachts, private armies, political oppression and other far less worthy causes. Abramovich operated in the system he was faced with at the time, it was either exploit or be exploited. Are you really claiming that, if faced with the same situation, you would happily bend over and let other people take your money just to say you were morally right? His money is far from squeaky clean, but then there's not much money moving around Russia at the moment that hasn't had some blood on it at some point. And to be honest I'm not sure a football club is in a situation to be a moral arbiter of stuff like this, particularly when the football club itself had no choice over who bought or sold it. If you ask many Russians, they will say that the more money Abramovich gets out of the country, and out of the hands of Putin and his ex-KGB buddies in the Kremlin, the better.
]If you ask many Russians, they will say that the more money Abramovich gets out of the country, and out of the hands of Putin and his ex-KGB buddies in the Kremlin, the better. I am sorry that is not the case. 90% of Russians regard the oligarchy's as pure pariahs who bleed the state for personal gratification . Roman bought a football club as a buffer to stop Putin coming after him as he tried to go after others and give him status outside Russia to protect himself. I agree Putin is not loved by many of his people but that is a totally different subject. No money gained immorally in a legalised criminal way can never be right. No if I lived off the funds of oppression I would never be happy. As I have said before , Roman has been brilliant for Chelsea and the Premier as a product, but for everyone else no.
Don't you dare question Swarbs on anything to do with Russia. His wife is Russian so he is an authority on the language, culture and politics... all the way from, er, Stonehaven
Actually 90% of Russians blame Gorbachev and Yeltsin for bleeding the state. They were the ones who demolished the state institutions, then created and perpetuated the loans for shares schemes where oligarchs could buy any state owned company for a fraction of the price in exchange for providing the government with the foreign currency needed to pursue its policy agenda. They basically made the state enterprises too cheap for anyone with access to money to ignore. And most Russians now blame Putin for creating a situation where the oligarchs are unable to do anything to really change the situation in Russia, as any involvement in politics will lead to them being arrested and jailed indefinitely like Khordokovsky, or exiled like Berezovsky.
I take your point and it is very valid,. My point I am trying to make is there is no justification in moral terms how the money has been stolen from Russia.
Aaahhh 21st Century football fans...gotta love em. Only on a forum could a thread celebrating 10 years ownership of Chelsea turn into a debate about the Kremlin and Putin. Romans a product of his country and the way it runs....seriously guys. You cannot judge everyone by your own standards, especially when they are from a country that is as f**ked up as Russia.
The Abramovich detractors are merely hiding behind politics. Their hatred of him has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with sport. There are far worse people on our doorstep, and unlike Abramovich their crimes aren't even alleged, they are proven.
The bottom line for me is not where his money comes from, it's the fact that his money and that of Mansoor make the playing field uneven. In Sport everyone should live or die by their performance and planning having an equal chance at the beginning. You and City have taken a very easy short cut. So much so that the narrow lead you had over us last season is a moral victory for Spurs (looks for tin hat), given the inequalities involved. I suspect no one makes that amount of money without significant dodginess, but that's not really my concern.
