You can't tell. We were sixth, fourth, third, sixth, sixth, fourth for six seasons in a row previously to Roman buying us and winning multiple cups; KB may have found another owner who kept us up there as a top six cup-winning club.

We have the location that would have attracted a decent buyer at some stage

Very true, but the chances of finding someone with more money than the whole of Africa and prepared to
spend it was remarkable.
You may have got stuck with prudent Americans, or businessman who ran it for profit and I would think you
would be at best in the position you were before Roman came.
Love him or hate him, he is the best thing that has happened in terms of success for Chelsea.

True. Or maybe a sheikh or oligarch. We have the most glamourous location in England, and were in champions league so we had massive potential.
 
Remember Chelsea were not Romans first choice in London but a very greedy arrogant Spurs board apparently turned
him down, (many would say a missed opportunity , like the Beatles being turned down by a record label).
At that moment in time I think he was the only oligarch trying to buy a club. I agree you had massive potential but to
be fair any club with a billion squid thrown at it would do very well. 99.9% of clubs are not funded by Sheikh's or
Oligarchs , so you could say you won the lottery having Roman arrive.
Roman is the foundation , provider , father of the " new Chelsea" , he should be celebrated and recognised with more
appreciation and love.

He was looking at a number of clubs and enquired about many but thankfully we had CL football and were located in a nice part of London.

In 20 years time, CFC will erect a statue to the Russian (paid for by Mad Dog, of course). He will, in years ahead, become the most revered person ever to have graced CFC, which is what he wants. I'm so glad that Spurs does not have an oligarch who is more famous (or will ever become more famous) than the club,.

And I'm glad that Chelsea does not have players who are bigger than their club. Say what you like about Terry Lamps Drogs... they never considered themselves bigger than Chelsea unlike certain Croats and Welshmen.

Unfortunately Bale will not be around long enough to have a statue erected in his honour.

form of legalised corruption. The ethics are not right except if your a Chelsea fan.

A lot of Russians support Chelsea now.

They may not have oil etc (they never really owned it anyway) but now they have the best club on earth
