Or yours? Did I miss something and you've already guaranteed your PL place for 2014-15? Just look at what nearly happened to the Geordies before getting too excited about being established in the PL. Much, much bigger clubs than Swansea have gone from midtable to relegated in the space of a season. Anyone who finished below Liverpool last season should first and foremost be concentrating on staying up.
Anyway, back to the real world, its seems as if personal terms are sorted with Young Ince and he's on his way to us. But then again that was in the Daily Mail.
I cant see us ever paying £8 million for ince tbh. We may do a deal with add ons depending how many games he is first choice and how we do this season. He has expressed an interest in us as he is keen to play the type of football we play but even if he wants to come blackpool has to accept our deal or it will be no go, £8 million is to much of a risk for an unproven player at this level...
dai, thats the going rate for that sort of player. rodriguez £7m, long £7m and ince is better than those. i agree its big money but quality english youngsters who have the sort of experience and potential of ince are very hard to come by. at least we're giving young english lads a chance than looking anywhere except england to sign players like laudrup does. arent there rules to stop teams having so many foreign players?
Teams must have atleast 3 playing staff that have been trained by the club from the age of 15-21 or are from the same country as the teams league system or their own nation (Wales in ours and the neighbours cases) train for them for atleast 3 years
We have a number of british players on the books as it is so we don't really need ince to make up the numbers. you can find better players in spain for a fraction of the price....£8 million is taking the piss and its no wonder british football is in a mess with over priced players not worth what are asked for them....greed i call it....we all do it.
Dai - overpricing generally is a fact of life. The big boys set the pricing levels, not the likes of our two clubs. It works both ways and you've benefited from it as well. I didn't see Huw kicking and screaming when Rodgers stuffed a ridiculous £15M in his hand for Allen - do you want to call that "greed" as well? Zaha for another £15M by ManU was an example of an unproven player at Premier level being "gambled" upon. Whether Ince is worth the reported £8M (no way is that all up front) is another matter, but at half the price of Zaha and Allen, he's a decent bet in this stupid money game.
That 'reliable' source the Daily Mail today has us posting a £11m bid for Wanayama. That would be a coup but you do fear if Liverpool want a player then they'll just outbid. The days of spending £75m on Carroll, Downing & Henderson on the other side of the coin though went when Dalglish left. However Brenda did pay well over the odds on Allen. It used to be Birmingham who poached our transfer targets, now its Liverpool!
"It used to be Birmingham who poached our transfer targets, now its Liverpool! " I guess that's what you call progress
Not sure he's stirring but it seems to confirm they do not have a bottomless pit and clearly the player list Laudrup handed in is being ingnored. As said earlier 15 million for Saha and only 8 million for Ince. Having said that I agree it's a lot of money.
Brainwashing their fans so he doesn't have to spend money? Agree its a lot, and I'd rather not go down the QPR route.
