Can't see Ruddy wanting to go there tbh and being a 2nd/3rd choice keeper. As someone said before, with the world cup coming up, He will want to be 1st choice keeper and play every single game possible.

Also with him just signing an extended contract, we have no need to sell him. (on the cheap side anyway)

Depends on JR's ambition - if he thinks he can oust Cech either this season or next then I could understand him leaving, particularly if offered a multiple of his current wage. It takes a brave and confident man to knock back a four or five year deal for (say) £50k - £60k/week when you're "only" on £20k/week.

Good thing from our point of view is that he is on a long term deal, we are cash rich and under no financial pressure to sell so if he were to go then we would be able to get top dollar for him.

All of the above being said I would much rather keep him than try to replace him even if we got £10m.

With Thibaut Courtois waiting and widely expected to replace Cech after this season it would be a really poor move.

Leroy Fer's representative's have told SkySports that Newcastle United have no interest in the player. So that leaves Norwich v Everton.

I'm liking Norwich beating other teams to the top names at the moment! First RvW a few months ago and now apparently Redmond choosing us over Swansea! Seems Norwich is a very attractive location for player these days! Good times!

I also think Hooper has travelled with Celtic to their training camp in Germany so that's a saga obviously nowhere near ending!

Don't know if its been mentioned but Swansea have now joined the race for Tom Ince, making this Redmond deal even more likely

    Redmond £3.2mi

    Ince £8mil

    Zaha £15mil

Who will do the best in the top flight???

The Leroy Fer stuff interests me if we do have a genuine interest.
He's very much a centre mid which we don't currently play with, I wonder if this could signal an intention to play more 4-4-2.
This would also fit with the talk of interest in Hooper (who I doubt will want to sit on the bench while RVW does his thing)

Ive heard from a neighbour of mine that Redmond has passed the medical and announcement will be made around lunch tommorow.

Also, same guy said that Toivenen is very close, just a sticking point in personal terms. Not sure what? Could be bull but he has told me things in the past that have turned out to be true.

I, Mr Negative and Resident Pantswetter, has returned from his golfing break away. If the rumours about Redmond are true then there will be a little bit of wee in my pants for a different reason. He is the sort of signing that excites me - young, skillfull, speedy and full of promise and raw talent. I can't get too worked up about 28 year old Swedes or strikers who have scored lots of goals in Scotland but Redmond and Wolfswinkel - now you're talking!!! Only negative - and there is always one with me - is that this is exactly what little Wes has been waiting for. A speed merchant to run onto a little through pass from Wes to put the ball across for a proper striker to latch onto. Unfortunately I can't see that Wes will be a regular next year.

Depending on other signings, I'm sure Wes will get some time, possibly as a rotation option or impact sub, but if a new signing is out of form, he'll be banging on the door. Also, him alongside someone else creative could be very exciting, so I'd like to see that,

i personally see little wesley having a big part to play still. if anything, the way we are hoping to set up (assuming we get most or all of our targets) means we'll spend far more time on the attack! the issue wes has is that he doesn't score enough goals for an attacking midfielder. his strength is his vision, which is excellent. having better players both keeping the ball and making runs, and having more pace in the side means that wes might look a better player by playing with better players around him. he won't play all the time but he didn't last season or the year before that either. i do think that he's a player who will continue to play regularly though and playing with better players will enhance his game <ok>

just to add to that article cromer, here's another, showing just how vital ruddy is to us. in fact, i claimed last season that had ruddy stayed fit we'd have finished 8th - i think this article aludes to that having been entirely possible...

This is so true. How many times does he take one touch too many and lose possession simply because there's not enough movement around him for that 'killer' pass to be attempted. More fluidity and pace around the guy and he'll be able to slip balls through without that extra touch. Hopefully. :emoticon-0112-wonde

I guess if Chelsea came back with a vastly improved bid and we accepted it, JR would have some serious thinking to do. Something tells me that he would eventually agree to a move there even if it means sacrificing regular first team football and a place in the next World Cup squad. He'd be getting a (probably significantly) bigger salary, almost certainly would get game time in domestic and European cup games, and if he plays his cards right he could be Chelsea's number 1 in a few seasons time.
