I DON'T GET IT.

'Stovies' makes it sound plural, like it's individual morsels. But it's not. It's like a stew.
 
I use my Aberdonian maw's recipe.

Lorne sausage is the only meat I use in it - chopped into wee bits, sliced tatties and carrots in it.

Maybe a bit of dumpling if it's available but that's it.
