very small-minded way of thinking personally. I'm not overlooking his past because of football. I just think it's harsh to be judging a 16 year old no matter what crime he committed. Because how you are at 16 doesn't define who you are or could be.

and this is without even mentioning all the troubling circumstances that may have led him to do it.

and also the fact that he may have just been present and sentenced just like the rest of them.

He's obviously no saint but you don't choose where you're born, who your parents are or who you encounter.

You've made up your mind on a sentence on Wikipedia.

Because even in cases where the offender is young and peer pressure may have been involved, there are still degrees that point to the extent of the lack of moral compass. A violent crime should carry far greater stigma than, say, nicking a car... and a violent sexual crime against a minor is pretty much off the chart.

So the moral compass you have at 16 remains the same throughout your life?

People talk about him like he is on the verge of reoffending. I'm not saying he is a changed man, I can't say but I am not in a position to judge him from a wikipedia entry and I don't think any of you should.

You want to sign someone who gang raped a 13 year old girl just because he's good at football and I'm small minded?

    Get to ****.

How is that relevant ? that made no sense whatsoever.

You're small minded indeed. You've never met the guy and you've already judged him.

How do you know it was a violent sexual crime? All I have read says it was rape, no mention of violence. Not doubting you, just haven't seen that information before.

Perhaps the wrong choice of words from me because I consider all rape to be violent.

Fair comment, but consensual sex by a 15 year old in this country is still regarded as rape. No violence involved there.

Stopped by police, held overnight and released. No offence there. People on here are saying they would kill him if he raped their daughter. Murder is a crime, even if murder of a rapist.

    Double standards?

People talk about Belgian police like they are all racist. I'm not saying the police here weren't - I can't say - but I am not in a position to judge them from a wikipedia entry and I don't think you should. <cool>

Agreed, nor should we judge Mboyo on that basis.

Pleased to hear that. Wasn't aimed at you, simply pointing out how easy it is to pre judge things.
