Just had a check as well (not on a free) seems he is one of these part owned players and Lazio had to pay an extra €14mil to some holding company or whatever, seems a bit iffy to me although that was 2 years ago. He was on €7mil a year wages as well works out about £6mil or £115K a week, not for a few years yet will we be paying that sort of money.
Granted this was on Wikilietoye.

Apparently he offered to take a pay cut last year.

That's a deal worth doing for Arsenal! Two quality players and **** loads of cash for a lad they paid five million for.

Yes he's hard to replace but with those two in the side and all that money to spend on a winger they'd surely break into the top four again.
