Just saw this:

Macclesfield Town confirm they are offering a deal that if you pay £20,000 you can have 10 minutes on the pitch in league or cup game,

Made me wonder, not that it would happen, but just suppose it did, and you could pay 20k for 10 mins on the pitch playing for the Tigers, where would you want to play and is there anything you'd do whilst out there?

I'd want to be centre forward and to score a volley then do a mauled by the tigers at the opposition fans.

How would that work? Do you get registered as a player, and get thrown on for 10 minutes at the start\end of the match? Sounds pretty ****e to me...

I might do it. Play myself up front or try and get a red card. Then, I can Sky+ Soccer Saturday and see my name on the vidi printer "Red Card - Tininho - 78 mins - Violent Behaviour"

I'll put my Brazilian name on the back of the shirt and choose a ridiculous number like 91 or 85, like other European based Brazilian players.

Wouldn't your Brazilian name be the same as your English one?

This thread worries me. 10 mins is a long time on a football pitch. Where does it end - pay £200k and get a full match?

Saying that people have regularly paid to drive for F1 teams and hence fund the rest of their team's operation. Is this a step in that direction?

People can't drive an f1 car. They'd break their neck going round the first corner.

Jesus Christ. You miserable bunch of bastiges. This was for a bit of light hearted relief about what you'd love to do for 10 mins on the pitch in black n amber.

Enough with the moaning, just suspend belief for a second and think, what would you in that 10 mins??

They certainly have done. I dont know if there are any today but in the past there are shedloads who have actively paid to drive for the lesser teams. They'd always be last but the millions they paid covered the teams expenses and paid for a proper driver in the other seat.

And we're not talking complete amateurs here. I mean people who have driven competitively for years but arent quite good enough to be at that level.

Well if you want to go like that I'd certainly want to be in the middle so I got my monies worth - left wing and you might not get near the ball for 10 mins. But that's precisely where they'd no doubt want to stick someone so they can do the least damage.
I'd want to be centre mid and I'd probably come off a broken man realising just how ****e I am compared to even the worst lower league players.

As an aside, does anyone know how this will work:
Will they come on with 10 mins left so they might actually get 15 mins?
Will the payer have to train with them beforehand?
What if he is 25 stone and cant move?
Or what if he is a she?!?
I'm basically interested in the small print.
