No, it's proved to me that he isn't going to be good enough to play for a real top side. Plus I don't think a whole season is making a snap decision.

But he wasn't fit for the whole season? His season was badly affected by injury. Plus the fact it was his first season in a different league/ Country.
Whenever I saw him he wasn't very good (with the possible exception of the Villa game). Granted next season he may step up, but I don't think he has the potential to step up that much.
You don't see his potential? Perhaps application could (possibly) be in doubt, but potential? Really??
With all due respect, Gaston Ramirez is not Didier Drogba, Thierry Henry or Robet Pires. You cannot say he is going to play for a top side just because they had poor periods in their careers. Just like it would be invalid to say Kleberson, Eric Djemba-Djemba and El-Hadji Diouf...
PS I would love Ramirez to make me look like a complete idiot, tear up the premiership next season and get a £50+ million move to Real/PSG/Monaco...
If lallana had a decent shot on him he wouldscore 10+ goals. The rest of his game was good enough last year, despite some dispondency which is probably linked to his lack of confidence in front of goal. Lallana needs to fix his finishing and decision making in front of goal and Ramirez needs to fix his fitness and his decision making in general. Lallana's problems are purely down to him, he's getting into the right areas but isn't finishing them. With Ramirez he was lacking conviction as well, but we need to see better forward movement for him to operate effectively. That's an oversimplification as his overdribbling and selfish play at times didn't help our movement but we will see a much better Ramirez if he has options in behind.
But that's the whole point, you CAN'T say that with any certainty now. Drogba/Henry/Pires etc all struggled to adapt in their first seasons, then went on to become great players in the Premiership. That's precisely why it's worth persisting with the obviously gifted Ramirez. If in a year's time there's still no improvement, well firstly it's unlikely we'll be seeing him in the side, secondly let's reconvene then......but giving up on him after a single, injury hit, new to the premiership season is as bonkers as having done so to Henry, Pires or Drogba.
He might be. His first year wasn't exactly worse than any of their starts. Obviously I can't say with any certainty he'll be just as good, I definitely don't think he will be, but you're saying with near-certainty he'll be crap. The potential is obviously there to become very good.
I think it also needs to be highlighted here than at no stage in his career has Ramirez been better than he has been for us. He's been playing at the same level for us as he did for Peñarol and Bologna. Football is about end product as an attacking player and Ramirez has got very few goals or assists in his entire career.
He was very good for Bologna. I can't say for Penarol, obviously, but come off it, everyone knows it's daft to judge only on goals and assists. Is Rickie Lambert better than Sergio Aguero?
No he wasn't. He was average for Bologna. It's not daft at all. If you're hardly getting any goals or assists you aren't playing very well as an attacker. This isn't rocket science. And guess what..if you're getting very few goals and assists as a team you're going to get relegated. I don't know if you've noticed yet but the most important thing in football is goals. Goals and assists are very valuable, so is stopping them. To answer the other question I'd rather have Lambert in my team than Aguero every single time in 4-2-3-1. Better depends on the formation and play style of a given team. Aguero and Lambert are very different types of players.
But they're both attackers so goals and assists are the only things that matter, right? I suppose you want us to sell Rodriguez too?

No. Rodriguez got 6 goals, 8 assists which is a good return considering he was playing in an unfamiliar position and took a while to get used to it. I wouldn't sell Ramirez unless we were making a profit on him anyway.
Why are assists stats stupid? Mata got 18 this season. Ramirez got 4 by the way not 3.
