There's going to be a massive story about a 40m Napoli bid for Higuain tomorrow. It's not true, orginated from a shady FIFA agent.

Italian clubs, even though many have super rich benefactors, seem to be constantly broke. In the heydays of 90's and early 00's they could spend. Not so much now. Milan sold Ibra and Thaigo for financial reasons and didn't reinvest half of that, Inter have cut back dramatically and Juve try to buy everyone on the cheap/installments.

Actually it's a tautology. The opposite of a paradox.

The report i saw says that Juve have also agreed terms, it's now basically a bidding war.

I'm starting to think we wont get him.

Italian football is not the attraction it once was...the match fixing stuff has pretty much killed it's reputation so I think that you've pretty much got him...RM are just trying to up his selling price in a bidding war

Anyone else thinking Ashley Williams would be a mediocre signing?

He's a fairly good defender but..

    1. He's no better than Vermaelen,Koscileney or Mertesacker.
    2. He's nearly 30 - could be a good thing I suppose. (Depends on his physical condition)

Personally I think three experienced CB's is enough. We would be better off adding a TOP youngster.

If we are to add a defensisve signing I would prefer a Defensive midfielder.

At one point he formed an excellent partnership for Switzerland with Senderos. But they played with Inler in front of them. He was a dreadful RB, don't know why you had hope there.

Perhaps it was one of those things that just didn't work out. He was a very decent player just never formed a pairing with anyone at Arsenal. I think he is going to go on and do (reasonably) well, a bit like Upson did.

He's too tall & slow for a RB. Never had a hope there.
I would like to see a CB come in, but to be honest I'm disappointed Bartley didn't stay. He was good, and could cover DM as well. He would have been good as a replacement for Mertesacker for some games.

I don't know much about Williams.

Also, I really hope Vermaelen finds himself & gains some discipline over summer. He's a real talent but his discipline let's him down.

I thought the times he filled in at RB he did better than when he filled in at CB personally, but overall, not good enough for either position.

Reports have reportedly been reported that we've triggered Fellaini's release clause. Reportacious.

Fellaini fits perfectly into Wenger's system.

I think Wenger had always intended in fitting Diaby into our system for a better Balance. Due to injury problems Diabys progress has stalled and I think we are finally looking to fill this void with a signing. Fellaini is exactly what Wenger likes. He's tall and covers alot of ground very quickly. He can tackle and score goals but most importantly he makes space for the likes of Carzorla/Wilshere to be creative.

It's a shame about Diaby (i always rated him) but I also think Fellaini would be a perfect 'replacement'.
