Another one to look out for in the future...

    Sebastian Rudy (Germany)

    U21 round-up:
Having made noises that he's happy at Hoffenheim, there's currently no great fuss over the future of Rudy but he must be among the most marketable of the Germans whose U21 Euro ended disappointingly early. But although they, like England, were sent packing after two defeats, Germany looked a good side in spells, especially in midfield. Rudy and his almost-namesake Sebastian Rode patrolled the centre with confidence, a blend of breezy efficiency and bulldog spirit respectively, allowing skipper Lewis Holtby to push forward. Rudy's calmness under pressure suggested he would adapt well to the helter-skelter nature of the Premier League.

I think Aspas will turn out better than alot of people here think. He's pretty muchan upgraded Downing; hard working, left footed but can play on the right and cutting in (I don't think he'll start up top much with Sturridge around), will chip in with goals on the back post like Maxi/Kuyt used to do and and a little bit of flair around the box for quick passing. He might not set the world alight, but he'll be a good player for us.

If Suarez stays, our forward 4 will be really strong and our bench would be ok - albeit full of alot of inexperienced/young players. People like Atsu, Sterling, Alberto have alot of promise and talent, but maybe not ready yet to start each week. (Alberto is ****ing quality btw, excited to see how he develops). Even Borini is still young and learning, although I think he'll come good for us.

Basically, our squad will be able to put out a very strong first XI, but we need much more depth from players who can rotate/compete for a starting spot straight away. Mhkitaryan would be a great buy as someone who could either push for Gerrard's CM role or play right off the bat alongside Coutinho. He'll start, of course, but if say Alberto and Aspas step up then he might instead push Gerrard out the team. He's the kind of player we need right now.

My worry is the rest of the squad - especially if Suarez goes. Sterling, Borini, Aspas, Alberto, Allen, Henderson...all young and learning. (Except Allen, he's dog****e!). Potentially exciting off the bench, but also might potentially get lost. Oh, and Downing...no more said. Which is why I hope Suarez stays another year really:

    Suarez, Coutinho, Mkhitaryan
    ---------Sturridge----------

Flog Allen, buy a real midfielder to compete with Lucas, Gerrard and Hendo.
Buy one more forward player or Mkhitaryan's level and experience (hopefully not price) after selling Downing. For me, Atsu isn't that player. Two forward players if Suarez leaves.

@thisisanfield: Apparently Mkhitaryan is part owned 50% by Shaktar. Theory that #LFC have agreed deal for non-Shaktar half, hence Shaktar's denial tonight.

Lol now This is the LFC I know and love! Find the most complicated negotiations even when well prepared & early <laugh>

look these deals are always complex when ****es out there do corrupt deals that uefa and fifa should not be sanctioning. LFC just need to be very careful and ensure they comply with FA rules and register the player properly. what fun.... not real issue here cos this is all too common.
I have the same issue as you guys, wanting it done now now now... we just have to wait as annoying as it is. there is all of 2 whole weeks before preseason and then well be able to look at that and not be ape about this rubbish.

Always good to read your thoughts on the possible new signings, well thought out posts with a good bit of knowledge. And the fact you are mostly Positive is good too :)

My concern if Suarez leaves will be - What if Sturridge gets injured...

    #4151
  12. I think Ford will be on the left there. Henri Ryan on right (which is what you said in your assessment) with Suarez behind Studge!

If he goes I am sure we will bring in another Front man, we have Borini and Yesil and Morgan that can come in if we get stretched

  14. Do people think Luis, Studge, Borini and Aspas are good enough enough front options?

On paper, yes <ok> Fully fit and in form, that's a good group. Buttttt.. Borini and Sturridge both a bit injury prone, Luis Suarez is always at risk to be banned and who knows how Aspas is going to settle.

I think Borini is going to be a good player, and I have high hopes for Aspas. The work rate of the guys in the final third next season is going to be immense!

One more needs adding to that list. Some one who can dominate more in the middle than Borini. I think Borini and Aspas will play wide (but not at the same time).

  18. Yep, I think the same. A bit like Magic said, there is something of concern about all four <ok>

It's interesting to see that everyone was listing Sterling in their front 3 last season however now he's not on anyones list - shows just how much we've strengthened our forward line.

I wonder if he'll go out on loan if we do get Henri Ryan & Aspas & Downing doesn't move. Would give him regular first team football in a less pressurised environment.

  20. Yes, we've strengthened the front line but I also think it shows the over expectation placed on the lads shoulders last year too. He was chucked in the deep end at the start of the season and despite a respectable early effort, he sank. That doesn't mean he won't come good in the future, he just needs more time. However, I'm still not convinced he will be anything more than another SWP, Aaron Lennon or Theo Walcott; lots of pace which he can beat a man with and be a world beater on his day but that day only appears on rare occasions.
