That is a shame but I think you are right. I see Southampton have spent big to sign Lovren who I think is a quality CB - I dont think the EPL is going to be any easier next season so I hope we spend wisely.

Cardiff, Crystal Palace and Hull are weak...don't worry, two of them will prop up the table without a doubt

Goldeneye I totally agree with you that we have no excuses not to stay up this year. I think I just meant that the additional spending power we have is being matched or more by other clubs. I just hope we make some more improvements to the starting 11 and if we do that we will be fine.

I think you might be Yarco!

Apparently Udinese have rejected an £8m bid from an un-named EPL side......

That valueing of Hooper by Celtic suddenly doesnt seem so bad!

Sounds as if Ola is discussing personal terms with us according to a respected dutch journalist. Remember Friday, his agent had held positive talks and thinks Norwich is the right club for him.

Lets see how this develops over next day or 2!

yes, sounds as if something might happen during the coming days. very exciting if we pull this one off. long way to go as yet, but at least it puts to bed the myth that he was never interested in norwich - as the sane amongst us said at the time, 'he's just going on holiday!' let's see if mcnally and hughton can sell the club to him like they did with a certain dutchman...

    Hey guys,

Ive been away a bit and occupied with business but how do you know he is discussing terms etc?

Im excited about this one, even more than Ricky. Sounds like he is exactly what we have been needing in an attacking midfielder, a bit like Fellaini.

I would be happy if we signed Hooper now and a left back. That would do me really after BenNet proving himself at CB.

You'd think it's most likely to be Hull and Palace battling for bottom spot for most of the season. Cardiff have decent financial backing and have been pushing for the Prem for several years, so you'd think they might be a threat, but then ithey're one of about 10 clubs who will be trying to avoid that final spot.

The transfers this summer are looking really important for every team outside of the top 7-10.

Cromer you make it sound as if it is like the January sales, with all the players laid out neatly on the shelves, and managers camped on the pavement outside the store for days in advance waiting for the doors to open -- Martin Jol at the front of the queue and Paul Lambert just behind. It really has very little to do with managers and players being on holiday. At this level it is all about chief executives/directors of football and agents. I bet you wouldn't find a single one of them currently on holiday. A lot of the groundwork will have been done many months ago. And if you are wondering how some clubs manage to conclude deals earlier than others, the answer almost certainly lies in wealthy owners. If you have Fayad's pockets, or have recently made a pile selling a business asset like Villa's Randy Lerner, you can commit to expenditure that clubs like ours wouldn't dare to commit to before survival in the league was assured.

Also, I really think people are getting a bit carried away with their expectations. If you build up your expectations too high, you are almost certainly going to be disappointed. The strategy is one of steady development turning us into an established Premier League club. Our expectations should simply be to see that strategy being implemented. All the speculation about the size of the transfer and wage budget, and the talk of several "marquee" signings, is simply people giving free rein to their own fancies. I trust CH; if others don't, at least they should trust McNally and the board (who, by the way, trust CH enough to appoint him and let him spend the money). <ok>

This is a huge move forward, IMO. First there were rumours of City having discussions with Toivenon's agent, but now the man himself is involved, either directly or indirectly:

IMO, City's big problem was the lack of goals from CM, and that is Toivenon's strength. Add to that a physical presence, good passing, attacking runs and the ability to set up as well as score goals and another new dimension would be added to the team along with that of RvW.

I'd personally say a Fellaini type player is the last we need.

I'm not saying he's not a good player, just that it is also glaringly obvious the direction Hughton is going with that type of player.

I was desperate for us to stop this constant desire for long crosses. I really hope we cut it out but it just looks to me that we are reinforcing this.

I just hope we are signing him for the right reasons because judging by why he's falling out with his club,he's not going to be happy here if we don't.

He is a bigger version of Michu, likes to play off the front man, play the game the right way and chip in with a few goals. I like how during the season fans were complaining that we hadn't signed someone like Michu yet as soon as we could be on the verge of signing someone like him people are moaning cause of how he talks about our club <doh>

I'd say its quite understandable he doesn't know much about us, we need someone who's a bit mouthy and opinionated.

Not being awkward carrabuh but what type of player to fill that left-mid /attack minded role would you consider a good approach/signing for Norwich?

Please to explain how signing Toivonen would be reinforcing the constant desire for long crosses. I think some of us have difficulty making that connexion. <ok>

I don't understand your point about 'long crosses', Carrabuh. Surely that's one of the things Toivenon is complaining about at PSV. His is more a game of intelligent passing and forceful runs from CM, exactly the things lacking for City last season, IMO.

Well from the you tube footage I have seen, the majority of the goals were either from distance or from low and hard crosses, not long ball or deep crosses
Just because he is a big strong lad doesn't mean that it will be deep crosses carrabuh
Looks good to me - I'd have thought its still 50/50 that we sign him

Have you concluded this solely on the basis of the Toivenen's height? He's specifically stated that he hates long balls and likes the ball to his feet! He's also not a winger, he plays down the middle. Not for the first time, you've jumped to conclusions
