If RvW has half the impact on our club tht Holt has had, and if he is the equal of Holt I will count the 8.5m a bargain, given that he's only 24

I just visualised the transfer negotiations taking place in Portugal, and once the deal is agreed, McNally hands RvW a business card and says "Rikki don't lose that number".

(Apologies, Steely Dan just came on random play)

I just think we may play Holty with RVW against the bottom half teams and they will blast our way to safety for another year
How RVW gets on against the big boys only time will tell but I sit comfortably knowing I have Holt and Becchio sitting there waiting and I'm sure maybe one more top striker yet to arrive

What has happened to Becchio? I rated him when he was at Leeds, seems to have disappeared without trace now though.

Can see your point I'm a bit anxious that norwich fans have got a bit carried away and that RVW is the messiah. Hopefully he'll be good for us but he's never played in the league, we've hardly seen him play. Just got to trust that the club wouldn't spend £8m if they didn't think he was going to be top notch.

In answer to your OP, welly, the answer is simple. RVW can score from outside, or just inside, the box (if my memory of said youtube clips serves me correctly). I'd say about 50% of Holt's goals for Norwich have come from inside the 6 yard box, and I can't recall a single instance of him scoring outside the box. Not to take anything away from the big man. <ok>

<laugh>
You should live round this way, mate, (or maybe you shouldn't), the "welly road pub crawl" is seen as some kind of local pisshead initiation ceremony, you might be able to bump into one or two Budgies on the way, try to avoid the pools of vomit, pissed up chavs 'aving it', and other assorted ****s and you'll be alright! <laugh>

I take you had a bad night at the Deers Leap in Bellinge? I thought you'd be right at home hanging out with the alcoholics in the Spread Eagle and Yardie types in the Fiddlers <laugh> Anyway I wouldn't whinge too as you'll soon be complaining once the wonderful Crime Commissioner Simmonds and his lacky Chief Constable Lee get their own way turning Northampton into the UK's equivalent of Salt Lake City, shutting everywhere down at midnight it'll make Syria look like the Playboy Mansion.

Never been in the Deers Leap, mate, but I'll certainly bow to your superior knowledge of the Eastern District <ok>

Thanks I think you would fit in well around there <ok> Neither have I, but I've heard a rumour that they serve booze in cans rather then glasses and bottles...

<laugh>Mate, I only live here, I wasn't born here, I support the team of the place where I was born, always have, always will...

Unlike some...<ok>

My first footballing influences are from my father who happens to be from Norwich and happens to be a fan too, it's a bit of a poor in comparison to someone with Northamptonian parents but supports Manchester United or Liverpool etc.

I'm Ipswich born and bred well for the first 11 years of my life before moving to Cambridge. It has always been Ipswich for football and Speedway and Northamptonshire for Cricket! I have spent many a happy Summer's day at the County Ground in Northampton, but why the **** I chose Northampton for Cricket is still a complete mystery to this day! The great Allan Lamb might have had something to do with it.

You raise a very interesting point there, Northants...I've got two teenage sons, neither born in Ipswich, one 'supports' Arsenal, the other Man U, I've never tried to brainwash either of them into supporting Ipswich, it simply couldn't mean as much to them as it does to me, having grown up in Ipswich, gone to school there, etc etc...I actually have a lot of respect for those Budgies born in Norwich/Norfolk who follow their local team through thick and thin, (same as I do my team), but how does it work following a team that you only have such a tenuous connection with?
