Andy Carroll expected to complete deal according to Sam Allardyce - http://www1.skysports.com/football/...st-Ham-close-to-getting-Andy-Carroll-decision

Ridiculous that we're giving him a 'golden goodbye' payment of £2m! <yikes> (Well £1m after tax for him, but still!)

Contact of £100,000 a week.

Is there ever a more undeserving player to be earning so much?

At least with Walcott, he knocked a few goals in for Arsenal, Torres had a continental reputation, Arshavin managed some good games, every player which has received ridiculous wages in the past (that I can think of) atleast showed performances which somewhat merited the insane figures they got paid, but I always thought the £80,000 a week we paid him was the most anyone would pay him, but seriously, £100k!?

Completely insane, really, £1m for not requesting a transfer (who would when you know the team wants rid and that clause is in your contract!?) and £100,000 for possibly a five year deal. Around £26million in the next five years (before tax), and around £10m for the 2 and a half years previous.

Those figures are beyond ridiculous, I felt the need to work it out to highlight how ridiculous it is.

One the one hand we have clubs risking bankruptcy, and on the other we see the insane amounts of money thrown about, and nobody who matters seems to be able to put two and two together.

Exactly, I reckon there are probably more deserving players in League 2 to take Andy's spot

Back to your point, imagine what those wages could have done for teams like Portsmouth, Hearts etc..

Just shows that money needs capping somewhere along the line. When people like Mandy earn more in one week than most average people earn in 4 years, it's a ****ing disgrace. Talented or not, big money business or not, it's a an embarrassment to footballing countries that they get paid so much when there are people like nurses who save lives but are struggling to pay bills.

Someone needs to get a grip on the money in football.

1. just cos ayre cancelled a trip to brazil doesn't mean anything regarding another transfer. thats speculation at this point. for all we know he got a dose of the pox in spain last time he was seen in an airport.... who the hell knows.

2. spurs are hilarious... they can't afford anything like the players they get linked with... gomez... lewandowski... diamao... they'll send up with a ****e like we did.

3. carroll. 100k per week to drink and gamble it away. thats what he'll do. also we are not paying him off we are meeting contractual obligations. simple think on it like that. contractually players get all these things. this is WHY day one peopel fume when ****es are bought like carroll or downing OR may i say aspas...

Carroll can **** off, So glad to see the back of that greedy donkey. never wanted to play for us in the first place

Sunderland fans now going on about Mignolets '****' distribution and the fact that he can't command his penalty area.

Oh and apparently he's **** when it comes to crosses as well <doh>

@thisisanfield: Il Mattino (Italy) report that Liverpool are waiting to complete the signing of Simon Mignolet before letting Pepe Reina speak to Napoli.
