Haven't really seen a lot of him until today when my lad came over and we had a look at some you-tubes of him... Now I know you-tube doesn't tell the whole story, and there's a whole lot more going on in a match than shown on you-tube...but, all of the chances that he put away in the vids, mostly one on ones with the keeper, pens, or tap ins, I'd have backed Holt to have put all of them away if he were in the same position, I didn't see anything better than Holt in what I saw... Half a million for Holt, 8.5 million for Van W...who do you lot think will prove to be the 'value for money' next season?
Just sounds like sour grapes, welly (as if such a claim could be aimed at a binner) Holt was definitely a terrific bargain, turned out so much better than we could have hoped, but, youtube notwithstanding, this guy looks a cut above. I'm really excited by RVW, when was the last time you were excited by a new player?
Not sour grapes at all, Gandy, you should know me better than that, you'll do what you do, we'll do what we'll do and hopefully we'll meet again...but I honestly didn't see anything in the vids that impressed me that much, certainly not to the tune of 8.5 mill.
Yeah, admittedly a low blow welly, sorry, I just assumed it was one of your music vids (Keep those coming by the way) I don't think we really know much about him, we can only hope people at the club have seen more than youtube clips.
It's not that he looks bad on the youtube vids, just that in my humble opinion he doesn't look worth 8.5 mill, if any of you lot could post any vids of Van W doing something that Holt couldn't, I'd be happy to stand corrected.
Well, we can't can we? We are in the hands of people at the club who know more than we do, and have decided he IS worth it. His arrival excites me, and that's all I care about. We can afford him, and a few more besides, that's where we are just now.
You should live round this way, mate, (or maybe you shouldn't), the "welly road pub crawl" is seen as some kind of local pisshead initiation ceremony, you might be able to bump into one or two Budgies on the way, try to avoid the pools of vomit, pissed up chavs 'aving it', and other assorted ****s and you'll be alright!
Nice that you take time out to check on our players, looking for something to wum about no doubt.Perhaps if you your fans and management spent more effort on things your side of the border you club might not be in the current position it is.You remind me of a little schoolboy looking through the fence at the big boys playground wishing it could be you, well the way its going we are getting bigger and stronger, and well, your just on the way down and that suits me just fine, enjoy next season because i know i will.
It's been so long since your lot have been in the prem I think you've lost touch on how it's changed, very recently with just how much you have to pay for decent players! It used to be not so long ago that you could get a quality player in for £1-2m but now it seems you don't hear of transferres under £4m! And if as it seems strikers, and good ones, can command much higher fees then £8.5m seems about right or even cheap to me ! Most strikers moving to the prem from the continent this summer will be for double that! But you won't have to worry about that as you scratch around for a few frees from the blue square this summer!
Think Holty might struggle to do this: Welly you're just jealous because the balance of power has changed and we are now top dogs in EA. Skuttle along now, back to the lower leagues
I just think we may play Holty with RVW against the bottom half teams and they will blast our way to safety for another year How RVW gets on against the big boys only time will tell but I sit comfortably knowing I have Holt and Becchio sitting there waiting and I'm sure maybe one more top striker yet to arrive
I think that you have approached this from the wrong direction. If it had been known that Holt was capable of scoring 15 in The Premiership what sort of fee would he have commanded when we bought him.An aspirational Championship side would have paid at least £5million IMO.
Well, firstly saying Holt could have scored some of the goals he probably could. So really what you are saying is that we have TWO really good strikers now we have RVW. The fact that he is currently on the fringes of the Netherland's team who are amongst the world's best suggests to me he is probably not that bad at football. I would certainly rather have him then Murray who goes round trying to beat up bouncers anyway.
