I feel a bit underwhelmed by this unless he's going to be our No. 2 GK.
Does anyone feel more optimistic about this (possible) signing?

To be honest Craig I have an horrible feeling you might well be underwhelmed when they announce the strikers, again linked with some good players but they aren't the ones we sign. Hope I'm wrong but...

It's early-mid June. There is still a few months of transfer window still to go. We will be linked with dozens and dozens of good players.

In the words of the late Clive Dunn, don't panic.

Yet.

Fair enough if you’re not happy with the signing, but it’d be ****ing brainless to spend circa 2 million plus and (I’d guess) around 20-25k p/w on a 31 year old keeper to be our number 2.

I don't know his fee or his wages so I couldn't comment.

When players get into their 30s a lot are happy to get a good salary even if they wont play every week. I wouldn't want us to have a number 2 who we weren't happy about playing in case of injury to our first choice.

He’s a Scottish international who no doubt would have been earning a fair whack in Turkey (wiki say it was 1.2 million Euros per season). His previous club was Glasgow Rangers – where again I’d guess he was earning a fair amount.

He’s at an age considered to be peak years for a keeper.

Naturally, I don't know the exact figures either, but I’m certain (considering market value/forces) they’ll be a minimum of 25k p/w in wages.

So, you'd advocate spending 2 million plus a top wage on McGregor and possibly more on a 'better keeper' as well?

How much do calculate we have to spend on new players?
