Of course, and I agree with you. Although hate is a bit too football-fan-expression for me. I find the OS mildly boring and off-putting. I tend to head straight for the Saints Player.
The OS can be annoying...can desperately try and read something and it disappears. Much easier to see the latest news on the old OS.
It's more than boring, it's downright inefficient. They wanted to make it look pretty and put no thought into functionality. Most clubs' sites are the same and so is the Sky Sports website. I guess what this tells me is that football fans are stupid and attracted to shiny things.
You see, we finally agree on something. As for the new signing, hello mush. First rule of Southampton defending... panic like hell in the last 5 mins of the game. You'll fit in nicely.
And again I would agree with that in general. Of the Saints Player itself, I wish there was some way one could stop it defaulting to low quality [although I haven't tried too hard] because it is annoying having to change it each time. Also, when one does change, after say, watching the appalling picture quality of a Saints/Solent match recording, it returns to the start and one has to pick up the pointer and feed it to the point where one previously left off. Also, and finally, why does it have to have that annoying Saints Player intro..? It's not sophisticated or smart. Reading FC, for example, have a much simpler intro on their player that is relatively inoffensive. It's the little things that build up to an unpleasant experience in the end. However, the picture quality is something Saints need to address if they are going to continue editing Solent radio commentary onto the match recording. I can only assume that during the editing process of marrying the two, the picture quality takes a tumble for some particular reason. We may only pay £38 odd quid a year, but it's not good enough. Normal player, manager and staff interviews and such are in perfectly good quality, I should add.
Thank goodness. I don't have to tell you everyday stories of Southampton folk anymore just to keep you entertained but I probably will. Mods edit: I've merged your thread with this one St.G. Your comment is perfectly suitable to sit here. It doesn't need a new thread. TSS
Don't get me started on video players. Even the YouTube one is fiddly and annoying now, though still probably the best one. Sometimes I really want to slap the web designers and tell them to stop over-complicating things.
Yes, but while I sympathise with that view Joe, and I agree with you on video players in general [VLC being a shining example of how it should be done], the Saints Player MATCH picture quality is appallingly bad and it needs to be improved as soon as possible.
Bollocks, popped out and got rat-arsed at a real ale festival and have missed our 1st signing of the summer. What's our general consensus on this one then?
Well I didn't and stayed in with a couple glasses of red and I think you may have had the better deal. I certainly didn't have a Kevin Keegan moment, for example, but I think the lad could be good. He likes our project so he's already on-message.
Seems everyone was away doing something when this was announced Shall we all have a meet up, get us away from the forum for another signing?
I know it might be hard to find exciting highlights of a central defender, but the only interesting bit I saw in my brief search was Ibrahimovic stamping on his head
Well glad to see it. I'm heading off to bed and look forward to catching up properly tomorrow evening. Just pleased it has been completed at last.
I'm sat at work on a night shift and didn't miss our first signing, I would much rather be in your position of being rat arsed and then finding out!!
Most of the Twitter responses are "Great signing for Southampton" or "How have saints pulled that transfer off? Great coup"... He's 23 and an international that played regularly for a big European club until he voiced his discontent. So yeah, for about £6.7m up front with £1.6m in potential add-ons, seems a good buy!
