Rick from Hull City live seems to think the player is Evans, not sure myself as it only leaves us with Meyler but does open the door to someone like Bridcutt!

McGregor, Mannone, Schwarzer, Bolat all better, cheaper options now, IMO.

Mannone and Bolat fit the 'within our budget' and 'building for the future' criterias too.

Or Schwarzer on a 1 year deal and try again for Schmeichel in January.

Why do people assume his Dad dictates his career?

Because no player in his right mind would have signed for Lesster? <laugh>

because his dad is a huge figure in football and no doubt a huge figure in his life. there's been no suggestion that he 'dictates' his career, just holds a degree of influence over him and wants what's best for him, like playing at the highest level possible....for example.

But surely that goes without saying?

A bit like us turning down £1.5m for Cameron Stewart, who must be worth all of £3.50p now!

McGregor and Bolat would have to move house as well, so no problem with the HU postcode condition!

Suggest we tell Leicester "either sell us Schmeikel or we'll drop Cam Stewart off at your place".

Players and clubs turn down players and clubs all the time, for all sorts of reasons. Even teams in the PL top 4 get turned down. It's nothing personal, it's just business. If we get who Bruce wants, great, if we don't, I'm sure he'll have other cards up his sleeve.

Keep calm and wait for the official announcements.

Celtic and Leicester are always going to reject whatever offer we place unless it matches their valuation. In Leicester's sense, we'd have to offer £4million. If we're offering Stewart, it'd have to be £3.5million + Stewart (because he's worth fook all anymore). I think we should offer £2million + Stewart and Fryatt. That should do it.

With Celtic, they believe Hooper is the best striker in the World and would probably want £8million for him. I honestly can't see Hooper coming here, we'll get Elmander and someone else IMO.

    Who said that?

I'm sure he has an influence though.

If you were a well respected individual in the game, known to all, and have been to some of the Countries biggest Clubs, you would have some degree of understanding about what decisions to make. I know if I were Peter Schmeichel, I'd have words with Kasper, advising him what route to take and what decision would be best.

We can't say confidently that he does dictate Kasper's career, but you also can't confidently say that he doesn't.

"Expensive decisions" happen all the time in football lad. Lose him for nothing next summer, or for less in January, I would never look back and say "why didn't we just sell him in the summer?".

We won't be able to attract another 'keeper of Kaspers quality. Sure some names have been banded about, some already the same age/older and not as good, others much younger who may have potential. Regardless of it being the last year of his contract, having him in goal for us for another season and another promotion push could be crucial.

If he does request a transfer then obviously there's nothing we can do, and he'll be gone. But for now, we're just happy to keep on rejecting.

Haha I was going to say that as well, it's always a gamble turning down big money.

Celtic may regret rejecting too many bids for Hooper, I think he's in the last year of his contract so this is their last chance to cash in, nobody will buy him in Jan when they can get him for free 6 months later.

What nobody seems to be commenting on, and I think quite telling in this case, is the amount of publicity and ceretainty over our bid. Every news outlet seems to have it as £4.5m with no grey area and when the Beeb report it, they have a concrete sourse. Now I'm not privvy to how we carry out our deals but I'd be 99% sure that we wouldnt be leaking these details to the press for worry of alerting other potential suitors, nearly all of whom might be more attractive than us.

I can therefore only conclude either Septic or the player's agent are leaking the stories, both of which are positive cos they mean in the case of the former that Septic are trying to encourage other clubs to bid as they want to sell or in the latter that the player himself wants to encourage bids cos he wants out.

I reckon he'll be playing in the EPL next season, with whom we'll have to watch this space.

The HDM has stated both the £4m/£4.5m rumour and that there has been a City bid of a mere £1.5m.
