I don't think a big club will take a punt on a striker who has only proven himself in the SPL. Let's be honest it's no better than the English championship. He's better playing here for a season in the PL, if he does well and we stay up he gets another season, if he plays well and we get relegated, then he might get a move to a bigger club. It's unlikely he'll get that big club until he has at least demonstrated he can perform against top clubs week in week out. It will be very different to playing against Ross County, Hearts, Caley Thistle etc

I don't think you can buy many strikers from another Premier League Club that scored goals in the Champions League last season?

By my estimation, and with the help of figures and statistics available from the Party Hull! database, it seems that 100% of the Scottish people who've posted on our board in the last few weeks really are pricks.

What have we ever done to the Scotch?

I don't like your breadcrumbed eggs, but I don't climb Hadrian's Wall to tell them all that. I have manners.

Honestly, you try and liberate a couple of players and this is the thanks you get.

Worldwide weekly audience? That certainly might be the case for Manchester United but I imagine the rest of Britain, never mind the world, won't be interested in Hull City.

If a non top 4 side was playing another non top 4 side in the Premiership, I certainly wouldn't watch it.

Maybe Hooper will move to a better League with more technically gifted players, like La Liga.

You would be surprised at how many international fans we picked up last time in the PL due to games televised globally on SKY. Everyone loves an underdog!

Yes, good point - but Hooper isn't playing in the Premier League is he? Let's be honest, Celtic in the Champions League are simply there to make up the numbers. They're cannon fodder for most teams, barring the odd fluke win, which is what can happen in one off games. Look at the FA Cup and cup upsets in general.

Scottish fans cling to this champions league football because that's all they have the league is mainly made up of pub players , again I find myself saying that if a deal can be agreed with Celtic I would be very surprised to see hooper knock us back if no other club came in for him.

As much as it pains me to say they were 1 of the last 16 sides in the competition last year.

As happy as I was to see them eventually get pumped out I think credit must be given when it's due, they made it further in the competition than the likes of Man City and Chelsea.

Wigan won the fa cup but I wouldn't say they were better than man city or chelsea

Barnsley made it to the last 4 of the FA Cup a few years back, beating Liverpool and Chelsea. Cup runs happen occasionally..

In fairness we may get relegated next season, and if we do Hooper would then leave, however as a player would you not rather play in a league that attracts a worldwide weekly audience or would you rather play amongst a world wide audience maybe 4 times a season, until Celtic get knocked out the Champions league? Its a no brainer for me.

Ask Joe Ledly that, he knocked back offers from Stoke and Roma to come to Celtic so he could play against Europes Elite and win trophys, his own words not mine. Something English fans dont seem to understand, the EPL may be appealing becuase of the audience it gets but playing for half the teams aren't. All Hull can offer Hooper is money.

All comes down to the individual, i'd rather play for a team that could offer me the chance to play agaisnt the best teams in Europe and win trophys, not a mediocre team in a good league which will be stuck in a rut or fighting relegation. Seems you would rather the latter

Eh In the last decade Celtic have made the last 16 3 times and been ina European final, most teams would bite the hand of you for that.

Rangers fans will know all about that :emoticon-0102-bigsm

At least in Scotland, you have the option to watch our league <ok>

What happens when some of the English public can't muster up a serious sentence to contribute to a debate.

They try and be funny <doh>

Even so they're never going to win it. 9 times out of 10 they won't make it beyond the group stage. Best of luck getting back into the SPL - at least then they'll have a bit of competition.

I am surprised you are defending them after they wanted you stripping of all your trophies when all the financial issues came to light.

Cup competitions in England <doh>

Does Arsene Wenger still play the kids these days? I haven't been watching.

As I said - credit where it's due - that group contained Barca, Benfica and Spartak Moscow.

What trophies? Surely you can't mean the scottish title? The East Riding Cup is more prestigious than that.

We can offer him the chance that he can prove himself a worthy Premier League player. I don't know why I am discussing this TBH as I don't even want him, he's a Championship equivalent striker, I can't see him being much of an improvement over the other Championship strikers we've been linked with (Austin and Rhodes) I'd much rather have Kone from Wigan and Odemwingie from West Brom - both proven at PL level and both similar money. Over £4m is too much for a player unproven in the PL and with 12 months left on his contract.

Thanks for your contribution, a typical example of the "English Fan Arrogance", which according to people on this forum doesn't exist, or is a pathetic attempt at humour?

What be used as cannon fodder in the EPL? your just there to make up the numbers, probably set his career back a few years

(Probably get ridiculed here but just treating you all with the same contempt use have all shown Celtic)

Sorry but he's absolutely correct with this. If we play for another 20 years in the EPL we wont achieve what they have and to belittle their history is embarrassing.

I ****ing hate Spetic more than any other club in the world, well maybe TWS excepted, but some of these arrogant comments are beyond belief. We've been in the EPL a month and we're already lording it up like ****s.
