You mean you can't see our team excelling with Zamora up front with Bosingwa replacing Walker in defence?
I'm optimistic over signings this summer. I think there will be 1 or 2 signings on deadline day or around that time, but they won't be massively important ones (such as the new striker or the creative midfielder for example) we simply have to strengthen. There's no dodging it anymore. Once again we're not in the CL, giving Arsenal a better chance of getting a higher calibre of player, should they choose to spend. Obviously they can offer higher wages too. if they pull their finger out and strengthen the areas where they are short, we're going to have a very difficult job on our hands getting CL football next season. IMO, it'll be harder than it has been for the last few seasons. - So much so, that we may have missed the boat. We have to do our best to compete and that means NOW by learning from our previous mistakes with our transfer activity.
I am optimistic like Roo. For one reason alone - We are trying to sign a "sporting director" to take charge of transfers. Why sign one of them if you aren't planning any transfers?
We're all optimistic deep down(apart from OODB) but it's hard waiting all the time. I want a signing everyday Welcome by the way. PS I think your first post(s) went missing because your first post with a link gets automatically caught in our spam filter for mods approval and the other(s) were too lazy to release it but you've reposted anyway
Another rumour today that AVB could be joining PSG. This story has cropped up a few times in the last few weeks. Does anyone reckon it's got any substance to it whatsoever? You'd think PSG would be in the market for someone slightly more decorated/proven...
It wouldn't surprise me if the link between PSG and AVB had some substance. These people think they can buy anything and anybody ( unfortunately, in football, they're frequently right) If I read AVB correctly, I think there's a bit more too him than just mercenary greed. I believe that he's grateful to Levy, and the club, for giving him this chance after the Chav experience. In other words, I think that the PSG interest may well be genuine. But, I also think it will be rejected.
I'm sure there's genune interest from more than one club, not just PSG. I agree with you on AVB's character. I also believe he's extremely grateful and isn't about greed. The Chelsea experience must have been horrendous if all is to be believed. He's only human and it must have been a torrid time when he was in charge; he must have felt humiliated and embarrassed when he was dismissed. No human likes to go through that, no matter what the situation is. IMO, AVB has settled, begun to restore his pride and I'd go as far as to say that I think he loves it at spurs. I suspect he's become very grounded after his recent experiences and knows that the grass isn't always greener. He has stated that he's all about a "project" and building something. Most of the fans are really impressed with him and I'm sure he's extremely happy in his current situation. If we continue to build and improve, I can see him being a long term manager. Fingers crossed for the guy. He's impressed me when he would not have been my first choice. I feel that in just 1 season, we've got stronger. There's been mistakes, but we've learnt from them. We've become a much more solid team and for once, we didn't buckle under the pressure! Imagine what he's capable of in the long term?
PSG are supposedly offering AVB 40k to become Manager, because Gus Hiddink decided not to join them and stay at Anzi,so i imagine there is something in it
With all the money PSG have, they are offering £40k? Wow, the economy hit PSG hard all of a sudden...
I'm going to apply for the Spurs job and you can all be assured that NO TEAM will tempt me away for ANY money. The Mighty Thor is the next Spurs coach and will end speculation and bring stability to the club. Who do you want me to sign lads? So the seeds have been planted to tempt AVB by PSG and I can see those seeds growing into blooms. He's an ambitious young coach who won't stay with us for too long and should he leave let's go for a German coach.
but we're building and going in the right direction. Maybe he'll want to be part of that? The managerial merry-go-round is ridiculous these days. There will be managers out there who will want to be like Ferguson and Wenger. Maybe AVB will be one of them?
