Religious moral truths don't evolve alongside the economy. The point in them is that they are divinely inspired, not inspired by economic or social context.

We all know they were written by humans. Only the world's biggest idiots don't realise they have to be interpreted to suit modern times.

Good point actually, I hadn't considered that; if humans wrote them then they themselves would have interpreted them in terms of their own culture.

Nevertheless, the fundamental truth behind it, regardless of interpretation is that any kind of interest on money lending is wrong. No matter how frequently people of other religions charge interest, it doesn't make it any more right for Muslims to charge or receive interest.

Linking this back to the thread, whether Cisse leaves or not, he most certainly won't be with us next season :embarrassed:

If they did not have flashy adverts on the TV or bright logos on the front of football shirts, we may be watching these people on documentaries from Panorama or whoever .... and they could be called "Loan Sharks" and be cruising round low income housing areas threatening people with a bat.

Dealing with these guys is my day job. Many of them really are loan sharks. Their lending pots come from dubious offshore sources, they break all advertising rules, they break most lending rules and they most certainly transgress all of the collection guidelines laid down by the regulators. In their defence, Wonga do not fit into that category and are extremely civilised when it comes to accepting reduced repayments and freezing interest.

Many forget that this sub-prime market has been around for years, notably with places like the Cheque Centre or The Money Shop. The real issue with payday lending is that our High Street banks have ducked out of their tacit obligation to provide short term lending. If we had a minister with a spine to stand up to them, particularly given the tax payers' stake in a few of them, the problem would vanish overnight.

Anyway, back OT, do you think we'll break our own transfer record again this season? I have a suspicion that we may do so more than once. I am basing that on nothing more than a hunch but I think we'll be big spenders again this summer.

Another one off of THAT rumour site:- Iker Muniain, Erik Lamela are top Targets for southampton

Saints looking to pull of these two highley ambitious transfers & make a real statement of intent this coming season

Champions League football is the target within 2 years and saints want to team these two with ramierez, rodrigues & lallana to fire them to the top 6 in the league.

With a solid midfield in scneiderlain, cork & ward prowse

And a mean defence consisting of Davide Astori & Dejan Lovren, shaw & clyne

£40m has been put aside for these 4 transfers.

Saints also scouting for cover a RB

Gotta say im a little semi at the thought of this coming off!

It would take at least 20-25 million to sign ONE of Lamella or Muniain, so I wouldn't get too excited.

Haha. Sorry, but this is pretty ridiculous and not happening. Lamela is highly unlikely, and Muniain is just an outrageous suggestion. He thinks we'll make four signings, none of which will be a right winger or central midfielder. I don't think so buddy.

The guy who put the rumour on is saying its a ball park figure and that its lowest estimates per player. I keep hearing Lamela's name but i just can't see it :(
