I'd be tempted to test the Spurs water with a cheeky double bid for Townsend and either Rose or Naughton...5-8 mil for the pair.
maybe not on a permanent, but a loan yes. we have a decent relationship with Spurs in the last 2 seasons which I often forget.
we are believed to be interested in huddlestone and townsend (though the latter may not be the most sensible signing baring in mind what has happened recently). i felt we should have gone for huddlestone last summer on loan.
this, sadly, is the biggest problem. he'd have been a regular in the spurs team had it not been for injuries - that's the chance you take sometimes! i think a loan would be the only way forward really but then if he did play plenty of games he'd be straight back to spurs. i met glenn hoddle at a training thing a year or so back and he rated huddlestone as spurs best (technical) player since ginola. the boy is talented, that's for sure. hoddle must have forgotten about a mr g. bale at the time
Successful loan and we have no chance in signing him. I think the risk taken in signing a player with his record is probably a few years too soon, financially.
Norwich is now moving into the struggle concerning the Swedish national team star Ola Toivonen. The English data to SportExpressen.se the Premier League club prepared to match PSV Eindhoven's price tag of about 40 million Swedish kronor. - The Premier League is interesting, says Ola Toivonen. Email It was the day that English media reported that Everton and West Bromwich shown interest in Swedish national team star Ola Toivonen, who has one year left on his contract with PSV Eindhoven. Right now, the Swede got into a fight with the club, because PSV is threatening to send Toivonen to the B team if he does not renew his contract. Something that the player himself says is not relevant. Can cost 40 million But now, one solution could be in the works. Besides Fulham, Everton and West Bromwich is now moving Norwich into the struggle concerning the Swede. This according to informed subjective data to SportExpressen.se. Coach Chris Hougton will be keen to involve Swede and Norwich should be prepared to match PSV Eindhoven's price tag, which, according to Dutch Votebal International is around 40 million Swedish kronor.
40m kronor is just under £4m, which, on the face of it, would seem a bargain considering his scoring rate. Can play as a striker or AM, as can RvW, so what a combination that could be! What the hell, let's go the full £4m!
Yes please to Toivenen over Huddlestone/Townsend. Of the latter two, one is gifted though tragically injury prone, whilst the other seems to be prone to tragedy...
Hmmm, just been told by someone (more reliable than twitter, but not a lot), that apparently you could call Toivenen the "Barton of the Eredivisie", which could well upset our close knit squad.
Not a rumour and not sure if mentioned already but Santa Cruz is a free agent now, what would people think?
Here we go again, from the Daily Mirror this morning: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/norwich-transfers-gary-hooper-back-1944872
it's not a secret that we want hooper and he is our main priority this summer, so i don't know why james nursey continues to write about it as though he's got a 'transfer scoop'! as for toivonen, i pushed him as a possible signing in january. he's a very good footballer. he tends to play just off the main striker and i can imagine him interchanging with van wolfswinkel very productively. he can also play wide left in a similar role to that of pilkington, so its a deal which would make a lot of sense, especially if the figure of £4m is correct (that would be a bargain - he's easily worth double that imo). the barton comparison confuses me a little - he had a reputation in his younger days as a bit of a hot-head but i think i'm right in saying he has only been sent off once in his whole career? he does get booked quite a lot, admittedly.
