I don't know how many of you saw that farce of a press conference earlier, but enough is enough, this corrupt, out of touch, arrogant fossil has got to go. Facebook and Twitter campaigns are now under way, so if you feel as strongly as I do about this, sign up!

Can anyone explain to me in decent detail what he actually said that was so wrong? Or his actions...

I have heard loads about it but can't really get the jist of it.

In simple terms, the craic is that he knew that people on the FIFA board had been taking bribes, and chose to overlook it.

That could have had a bearing on the 2 rather random World Cup awards, as well as god knows how many Tourney's in the past.

Bear in mind a Tournament isn't just a few games for people to go and watch, it's a multi-million pound boost to a countries economy, and often a sporting legacy is left behind.

Perhaps most importantly, the man is an absolute cock sucking prick who should never have been allowed near the top table of football decision making in a million ****ing years.

You just look at them and know they are corrupt. That **** Platini doesn't help matters. Football is a horrible world, it really is the devil when you see the complications of it all and all the bollocks that goes with it. The money we pay isn't justified, but we can't help pay it.

The sooner there is some sort of breakaway the better.

    I agree.

I'm not one for defending Platini, but i do think he has footballs best interests at heart, he just puts himself across badly, but his morals in debt free football and wanting a level(ish) playing field are half decent, if wholly unrealistic and unworkable.

I think Trevor Brooking would be the man for the job, clean cut, general football lover, great public speaker, and truly 'hands on', as in genuinely involved in the game, grass roots up.

More chancing of me having a 5 day orgy with Shakira and the entire 5 of girls allowed than of an honourable Englishman getting near the keys to FIFA.

It's our ****ing game, it's the worlds ****ing game, it's not some fat greasy and corrupt old twats toy.

    ****ers.

You'd consider having an orgy involving the ginger one?

Our own FA have finally taken a stance and have put forward a proposal to have tomorrows FIFA presidential election postponed. According to 5 live radio, they may have a problem getting enough worldwide support due to the smaller nations receiving £m's in handouts from Sepp Blatter.

A good way of keeping them sweet?

    EDIT: Ripped from BBC News..........

The Football Association wants Fifa to postpone its presidential election scheduled for Wednesday 1 June.

Current Fifa president Sepp Blatter is the only candidate in the running after the withdrawal of Mohamed Bin Hammam.

The FA recently chose to abstain from voting following allegations of corruption against world football's governing body.

It now wants the vote delayed and an independent body to recommend "improved governance" of Fifa.

FA chairman David Bernstein said in a statement: "On 19 May, 2011 the Football Association announced it would be abstaining in the forthcoming election for the Fifa presidency.

"There were two main reasons for this decision. First, a concern, that a series of allegations relating to Fifa ExCo Members made it difficult to support either candidate.

"Secondly, a concern about the lack of transparency and accountability within the organisation, contributing to the current unsatisfactory situation.

"Events of the last few days have reinforced our views, and we call on Fifa and ask other national associations to support us with two initiatives.

"First, to postpone the election and give credibility to this process, so any alternative reforming candidate could have the opportunity to stand for president.

"Secondly, to appoint a genuinely independent external party to make recommendations regarding improved governance and compliance procedures and structures throughout the Fifa decision-making processes for consideration by the full membership.

"This has been a very damaging time for the reputation of Fifa and therefore the whole of football.

"To improve confidence in the way the game is governed at the very top, we believe these requests would be a positive step forward and the minimum that should take place."

Whether the FA will receive the support of their counterparts remains to be seen but Blatter, speaking defiantly at a news conference on Monday, seemed set on making sure the presidential election went ahead unless three quarters of Fifa's congress voted otherwise.
