I think were being a tad harsh on shelvey, he's only 21. He has plenty of time on his side and maybe at a club like Norwich he could improve. On the pitch, he has the same stats as Hoolahan though didn't play nowhere near as many games. I really do think if he was playing weekly in a settled side I believe he would be a decent player for us. I have a feeling that he wouldn't get time, seems a player that if he has a bad game people would be on his back in a flash. Just like turner at the beginning of last season. He had the experience to overcome that though.
It doesn't count as a rumoured link to City, DH, but the Mail has linked Cardiff to Saloman Kalou of Lille. An international striker who is only 27, with considerable experience of the PL - could he be a useful addition to our squad? Here's his Wiki profile: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salomon_Kalou
everyone still in bed? i'm undecided on N'zonzi, he has good and bad points. the question is, do the good outweigh the bad?
Insigne was someone I was going to put in my squad if I ever played my own transfers game. I think I'd combust if we actually signed him, looks to have serious potential. His club'd be mad to sell him frankly. Shame that gossip isn't any more reputable, or I'd be incredibly excited. He'd easily cost any team £12m though I think.
Insigne... I WISH! As DH said, absolutely no hope on that. Much like Capel, Aubameyang, Bony, Emenike - I've seen all three 'linked' on twitter in the last few days (particularly by one less-than-calm supporter who i may soon be unfollowing)
Lying in be this morning, my mind wandered into what might happen this summer, given that not much seems to actually be happening at the moment. Looking at last year's spending as around £25m (including RvW), I thought it was reasonable to assume a budget of that much again. Putting £5m back until January for emergencies, I thought City might bring in the following players: LB Danny Rose (loan) or another for about £2m CM Shelvey £5m LW Diego Capel £8m ACM Van Ginkel £5m Then if more money is available, City could go for another CB and/or striker if CH feels Ayala and/or Vaughan were not sufficient in those positions. My feeling is that both Shelvey and Van Ginkel are goal-scoring mid-fielders, and that might preclude the need for another striker other than Vaughan. The player values are only my guesses from what I've read, but I also think I've been conservative about the budget available. I just thought it might provide a topic for discussion while we're waiting for something concrete to happen.
i'd like to think we might sign someone on 1st July - it would at least give us something to talk about! not sure if this has been mentioned before; the LB position, what about Figueroa from Wigan? - he has been released.
Figueroa could be a good shout, given that he can play at both LB and CB. At 30, his age might be against him and I wonder what his wages were at Wigan. Could be a runner though, Max. One year contract?
i would have though wages were the reason why they have released quite a few first teamers Rick. could well have a few suitors. Chris might want to go with a younger LB though, as garrido not young either.
Mick Dennis said on talkSHITE last night to 'watch for players leaving Spurs' and there may be loans coming in
